Hello guys,
My Bosch SGU400020 dishwasher has failed, and I’d like to troubleshoot the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this unit, or can provide some advice, I’d really be thankful. When I try to start a cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no water flow, and no sounds. It just stopped mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some assistance to resolve the issue. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not informative.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, help required please I too have a Bosch SGU400020 dishwasher, and I downloaded the service manual shared above. Could someone explain how to check the power supply and what parts to test initially? I’m a bit confused by the electrical diagrams. Any suggestions would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my dishwasher too. I checked the power supply, and the outlet, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the connection point. According to the wiring diagram in the guide, I should have some voltage there, right? How do I check the control board? Is my appliance completely faulty? The fuse seem fine, I checked it with a voltage meter. Any suggestions? 🤔

I believe my appliance has an electrical issue because it isn't starting. I’m not very experienced with fixing things, but I’m open to give it a shot. I have a current tester and some basic tools. Can anyone guide me on how to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door switch could be the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide model number if needed!

Avoid jumping into changing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the approach to diagnosing malfunctions may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply allow the company handle the repair. Does your dishwasher have problems with the display, indicators, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by checking the electrical connection, door switch, and control board. It’s crucial to move step by step instead of quickly swapping parts like the mainboard or motor. First, check if the dishwasher is getting power. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the latch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in appliance repair, it might be better to call a repair shop to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a bit more. They can easily identify the problem and find the faulty part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the appliance before working on it).

Here’s my preferred checklist for diagnosing a malfunctioning dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is receiving power. Test the socket and connection point too. Door Switch: Check for continuity. A faulty switch can prevent the dishwasher from working. Thermal Fuse: Check if it’s blown. Swap it if necessary. Mainboard: Examine for visible damage or disconnected connections. Pump and Motor: Check for continuity and confirm they’re working properly. Here’s what I discovered:

We haven t had phosphates in DW detergent in California for a zillion years either. Carefully push the two halves of the door back together and rest them back down holding them together so the inner section doesn t pop back up. The biggest problem with powdered detergent is that it doesn t always dissolve completely in washing machines especially if you wash clothes in cold water. I m guessing I might need to replace it but before I do that I m wondering if I can get it removed so I can see if the valve is broken or just needing reset. If the circulation pump isn t working water won t move through the appliance as intended preventing the pods from dissolving.
