Hi all, My Bosch SHE42L16UC40 dishwasher has broken down, and I’d like to repair the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this unit, or can help me out, I’d really appreciate it. When I try to start a cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no water flow, and no sounds. It just stopped mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some advice to fix it. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not useful. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I had a similar problem with my Bosch SHE42L16UC40 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I found a detailed service guide on the internet. It features detailed instructions, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting tips. Here’s the URL, I found it on a blog on a subreddit :
Hello, help required please I too have a Bosch SHE42L16UC40 dishwasher, and I got the repair guide mentioned above. Could anyone clarify how to test the electrical supply and what components to test first? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring diagrams. Any suggestions would be great!
Start by checking the basics:
1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model).
2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter.
3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.
Hi, I’m experiencing trouble with my dishwasher too. I checked the power supply, and the outlet, evrything is working, but there’s no power at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the guide, I should have some voltage there, correct? How do I check the control board? Is my appliance completely dead? The fuses seem good, I checked it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔
I believe my appliance has an electrical problem because it won’t start at all. I’m not very tech savvy with fixing things, but I’m open to give it a try. I have a multimeter and some basic equipment. Can someone help me on where to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door switch could be the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated, can provide serial number if required!
Don't jump into changing parts right away. Depending on the problem, the approach to diagnosing issues may differ. Sometimes, appliances are recalled, and you can simply allow the company handle the repair.
Does your dishwasher have issues with the display, indicators, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by checking the electrical connection, latch, and mainboard.
It’s important to proceed step by step instead of hastily swapping parts like the mainboard or motor. First, check if the dishwasher is powered on. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the latch and fuse.
If you’re a total beginner in appliance repair, it might be better to call a repair shop to avoid causing more damage, even if it costs a bit more. They can quickly diagnose the problem and find the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A tip: always unplug the dishwasher before trying to repair it).
I believe I damaged my appliance heating element while trying to replace the water inlet valve. Now it won’t heat at all while operating. Is it possible I caused more issues? Something’s not right.
I grabbed the Bosch SHE42L16UC40 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll assist me figure out what went wrong. Fingers crossed...
This is my checklist for troubleshooting a faulty dishwasher:
Power Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Test the socket and connection point as well.
Door Switch: Test for continuity. A faulty wire can stop the dishwasher from starting.
Fuse: Check if it’s damaged. Replace it if necessary.
Control Board: Examine for visible damage or loose connections.
Pump and Pump: Check for proper operation and confirm they’re working properly.
