Hi all,
My Bosch SHI690506 dishwasher has stopped working, and I’d like to fix the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this unit, or can provide some advice, I’d really be grateful. When I try to start a wash, nothing happens: no lights, no sounds, no water flow. It just died mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to resolve the issue. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not informative.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I experienced a comparable issue with my Bosch SHI690506 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a detailed service manual on the internet. It includes detailed directions, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic hints. Here’s the URL, I found it on a blog thanks to a subreddit :

Hello, help needed please I also have a Bosch SHI690506 dishwasher, and I got the service guide shared above. Could anyone clarify how to test the electrical supply and what components to test initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring schematics. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m experiencing trouble with my appliance too. I checked the electrical supply, and the socket, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the wiring diagram in the pdf, I expect to have 120V there, right? How do I test the control board? Is my dishwasher completely non-functional? The fuse seem fine, I tested it with a voltage meter. Any ideas? 🤔

I think my appliance has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very experienced with repairs, but I’m open to give it a try. I have a multimeter and some basic tools. Can anyone help me on where to start? I’ve heard the control board, pump, or door mechanism could be the issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated, can provide serial number if needed!

Don’t Rush into replacing parts right away. Depending on the issue, the method to diagnosing issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle the repair. Does your appliance have problems with the display, lights, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by checking the power supply, latch, and mainboard. It’s crucial to move step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the mainboard or motor. First, check if the dishwasher is powered on. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the latch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a repair shop to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly identify the issue and find the broken part. Then, it’s your choice whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A tip: always disconnect the appliance before working on it).

I believe I damaged my appliance thermal resistance while trying to replace the water valve. Now it won’t heat at all while running. Is it likely I caused more damage? Something’s not right. I grabbed the Bosch SHI690506 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me figure out what went wrong. Hoping for the best...

Here’s my preferred checklist for diagnosing a faulty dishwasher: Power Supply: Verify the dishwasher is getting power. Check the outlet and terminal block too. Door Switch: Test for continuity. A faulty switch can prevent the dishwasher from working. Fuse: Check if it’s damaged. Swap it if needed. Control Board: Examine for visible damage or disconnected connections. Motor and Pump: Check for continuity and confirm they’re functioning properly.
