Hi guys,
My Bosch SHX5ER55UC73 dishwasher has ceased functioning, and I’d like to repair the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this unit, or can guide me, I’d really value it. When I try to start a wash, nothing happens: no lights or sounds, and no water flows. It just shut down mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some assistance to resolve the issue. Please don't share the user manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I had a similar issue with my Bosch SHX5ER55UC73 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a detailed service manual online. It features detailed directions, electrical schematics, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the link, I discovered it on a blog on a subreddit :

Hello, assistance needed please I too have a Bosch SHX5ER55UC73 dishwasher, and I downloaded the repair manual mentioned above. Could anyone explain how to test the electrical supply and what parts to inspect first? I’m a bit confused by the wiring diagrams. Any suggestions would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hello, I’m experiencing trouble with my dishwasher too. I checked the power supply, and the outlet, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the guide, I should have 120V there, correct? How do I test the control board? Is my appliance completely non-functional? The fuse seem good, I tested it with a voltage meter. Any suggestions? 🤔

I believe my dishwasher has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I have a multimeter and some simple equipment. Can anyone guide me on where to start? I’ve heard the control board, pump, or door switch could be the problem. Any advice would be helpful, can provide serial number if required!

Don't jump into replacing parts right away. Depending on the problem, the method to troubleshooting malfunctions may differ. Sometimes, devices are recalled for safety, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle the repair. Does your appliance have issues with the display, lights, or makes sounds? Start with the basics by inspecting the electrical connection, door switch, and mainboard. It’s crucial to proceed step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the control board or motor. First, verify if the dishwasher is getting power. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the latch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in appliance repair, it might be better to call a service center to prevent causing more damage, even if it costs a bit more. They can easily diagnose the issue and find the broken part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the appliance prior to working on it).

This is my checklist for troubleshooting a malfunctioning dishwasher: Power Supply: Check the dishwasher is receiving power. Test the socket and terminal block too. Latch: Check for continuity. A broken wire can stop the dishwasher from starting. Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Replace it if necessary. Control Board: Examine for visible damage or loose connections. Motor and Pump: Check for continuity and ensure they’re working properly.
