Hi folks, My Bosch SMI53M12EU27 dishwasher has quit working, and I’d like to address the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can offer suggestions, I’d really appreciate it. When I try to start a washing cycle, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just failed mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to get it working again. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not informative. Thanks in advance!

I have had a comparable problem with my Bosch SMI53M12EU27 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I found a comprehensive service manual on the internet. It features detailed directions, wiring schematics, and troubleshooting hints. Here’s the link, I found it on a blog through reddit :
Hi, help required please I also have a Bosch SMI53M12EU27 dishwasher, and I got the repair guide mentioned above. Could someone explain how to check the electrical supply and what parts to test initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the electrical diagrams. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Start by checking the basics:
1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model).
2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter.
3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.
Hi, I’m having trouble with my dishwasher too. I inspected the power supply, and the socket, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the pdf, I expect to have some voltage there, right? How do I check the control board? Is my appliance completely faulty? The fuses seem fine, I tested it with a voltage meter. Any ideas? 🤔
I think my appliance has an electrical issue because it won’t start at all. I’m not very experienced with fixing things, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I have a multimeter and some simple equipment. Can anyone help me on how to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door switch could be the issue. Any advice would be appreciated, can provide model number if required!
Don't jump into changing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the approach to diagnosing malfunctions may differ. Sometimes, appliances are recalled for safety, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle everything.
Does your dishwasher have issues with the screen, indicators, or makes sounds? Start with the fundamentals by inspecting the power supply, door switch, and control board.
It’s crucial to proceed step by step instead of quickly swapping parts like the mainboard or pump. First, check if the dishwasher is getting power. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the door switch and fuse.
If you’re a complete beginner in appliance repair, it might be better to call a service center to avoid causing more damage, even if it costs a bit more. They can easily diagnose the problem and find the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you decide to fix it yourself. (A tip: always unplug the dishwasher prior to trying to repair it).
I think I damaged my dishwasher thermal resistance while trying to swap the water inlet valve. Now it won’t warm up at all while operating. Is it possible I caused more damage? Something’s not right.
I grabbed the Bosch SMI53M12EU27 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me figure out what went wrong. Fingers crossed...
Here’s my go-to checklist for diagnosing a faulty dishwasher:
Power Supply: Check the dishwasher is receiving power. Test the outlet and terminal block too.
Latch: Test for continuity. A faulty wire can prevent the dishwasher from starting.
Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Swap it if needed.
Mainboard: Examine for obvious damage or disconnected connections.
Motor and Motor: Test for continuity and ensure they’re functioning properly.
