Hello folks,
My Bosch SMI63M42EU27 dishwasher has ceased functioning, and I’d like to troubleshoot the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can guide me, I’d really be thankful. When I try to start a cleaning cycle, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just shut down mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some advice to repair it. Please don't share the user manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I had a similar issue with my Bosch SMI63M42EU27 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a comprehensive service guide online. It features step-by-step instructions, electrical diagrams, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the link, I discovered it on a blog through a subreddit :

Hi, help required please I also have a Bosch SMI63M42EU27 dishwasher, and I got the repair guide shared above. Could someone explain how to check the power supply and what components to test initially? I’m a bit confused by the wiring diagrams. Any suggestions would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hello, I’m having trouble with my dishwasher too. I checked the electrical supply, and the outlet, evrything is working, but there’s no power at the connection point. According to the wiring diagram in the guide, I expect to have some voltage there, right? How do I test the mainboard? Is my dishwasher completely non-functional? The fuses seem fine, I tested it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔

I believe my dishwasher has an electrical issue because it isn't starting. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m open to give it a shot. I have a current tester and some simple equipment. Can anyone help me on where to begin? I’ve heard the control board, motor, or door mechanism could be the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated, can provide model number if needed!

Don't jump into changing parts right away. Depending on the problem, the method to troubleshooting issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply let the company handle the repair. Does your appliance have issues with the display, indicators, or makes sounds? Start with the fundamentals by inspecting the electrical connection, door switch, and mainboard. It’s crucial to proceed step by step instead of quickly replacing parts like the mainboard or motor. First, check if the dishwasher is getting power. It’s as simple as that. Also, check the door switch and thermal fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in appliance repair, it might be better to call a service center to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly identify the issue and find the broken part. Then, it’s your choice whether you decide to fix it yourself. (A tip: always unplug the appliance prior to working on it).

I think I damaged my appliance thermal resistance while trying to replace the water inlet valve. Now it won’t heat at all while operating. Is it possible I caused more issues? Something’s not working properly. I downloaded the Bosch SMI63M42EU27 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me determine what went wrong. Fingers crossed...

This is my go-to checklist for diagnosing a malfunctioning dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Test the outlet and terminal block too. Latch: Test for continuity. A broken wire can stop the dishwasher from starting. Thermal Fuse: Check if it’s blown. Swap it if necessary. Mainboard: Inspect for obvious damage or disconnected connections. Pump and Motor: Test for proper operation and confirm they’re working properly.
