Hi friends,
My Bosch SMS5012TC08 dishwasher has broken down, and I’d like to troubleshoot the issue myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can help me out, I’d really value it. When I try to start a washing cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no sounds, no water flow. It just quit mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some support to repair it. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not informative.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I experienced a similar issue with my Bosch SMS5012TC08 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a comprehensive service guide online. It includes step-by-step instructions, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic hints. Here’s the link, I found it on a blog on a subreddit :

Hello, help needed please I too have a Bosch SMS5012TC08 dishwasher, and I downloaded the repair manual shared above. Could someone clarify how to check the electrical supply and what components to test first? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring diagrams. Any suggestions would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m experiencing trouble with my dishwasher too. I checked the power supply, and the outlet, evrything is working, but there’s no power at the connection point. According to the wiring diagram in the book, I expect to have 120V there, correct? How do I check the control board? Is my appliance totally faulty? The fuses seem fine, I tested it with a voltage meter. Any ideas? 🤔

I think my appliance has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very experienced with repairs, but I’m open to give it a shot. I have a current tester and some simple tools. Can anyone help me on where to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door switch could be the issue. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide model number if required!

Avoid jumping into changing parts right away. Depending on the problem, the method to diagnosing issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled for safety, and you can simply let the manufacturer handle the repair. Does your dishwasher have problems with the display, lights, or makes noises? Start with the basics by checking the electrical connection, latch, and control board. It’s crucial to move step by step instead of hastily swapping parts like the mainboard or pump. First, check if the appliance is powered on. It’s as simple as that. Also, check the latch and fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a repair shop to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a bit more. They can quickly identify the issue and identify the broken part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to replace it yourself. (A tip: always disconnect the appliance prior to working on it).

I think I damaged my dishwasher thermal resistance while trying to replace the water inlet valve. Now it doesn’t heat at all while operating. Is it possible I caused more issues? Something’s not right. I grabbed the Bosch SMS5012TC08 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me determine what went wrong. Fingers crossed...

This is my preferred checklist for diagnosing a faulty dishwasher: Power Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Test the outlet and connection point too. Door Switch: Check for continuity. A faulty switch can stop the dishwasher from working. Fuse: Check if it’s blown. Replace it if necessary. Mainboard: Examine for obvious damage or disconnected connections. Pump and Motor: Test for continuity and confirm they’re working properly.
