Hello people,
My Bosch SMS5082TC08 dishwasher has stopped working, and I’d like to repair the issue myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this appliance, or can offer suggestions, I’d really appreciate it. When I try to start a washing cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no water flow, and no sounds. It just stopped mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some guidance to repair it. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not useful.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have experienced a similar problem with my Bosch SMS5082TC08 dishwasher a few months ago, and I found a comprehensive service manual on the internet. It features detailed directions, wiring schematics, and troubleshooting tips. Here’s the URL, I found it on a blog on reddit :

Hello, help required please I too have a Bosch SMS5082TC08 dishwasher, and I got the repair guide mentioned above. Could someone explain how to check the electrical supply and what components to test first? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring schematics. Any suggestions would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I inspected the electrical supply, and the outlet, evrything is working, but there’s no power at the connection point. According to the schematic in the book, I should have some voltage there, right? How do I test the mainboard? Is my appliance completely faulty? The fuses seem fine, I checked it with a multimeter. Any suggestions? 🤔

I think my appliance has an electrical problem because it won’t start at all. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a multimeter and some simple equipment. Can anyone help me on where to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door mechanism could be the issue. Any advice would be helpful, can provide serial number if needed!

Avoid rushing into changing parts right away. Depending on the issue, the approach to troubleshooting issues may differ. Sometimes, devices are recalled for safety, and you can simply let the manufacturer handle everything. Does your dishwasher have issues with the display, lights, or makes noises? Start with the basics by checking the power supply, latch, and control board. It’s important to move step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the control board or motor. First, verify if the appliance is getting power. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the latch and fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be better to call a repair shop to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a bit more. They can easily identify the issue and find the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to fix it yourself. (A piece of advice: always unplug the dishwasher before working on it).

This is my go-to checklist for troubleshooting a malfunctioning dishwasher: Power Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Check the socket and terminal block too. Door Switch: Test for continuity. A broken switch can prevent the dishwasher from working. Thermal Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Replace it if needed. Mainboard: Examine for obvious damage or loose connections. Motor and Motor: Test for continuity and ensure they’re functioning properly.
