Hello everyone,
My Bosch SMS50M12EP27 dishwasher has ceased functioning, and I’d like to troubleshoot the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can point me in the right direction, I’d really thank you. When I try to start a cycle, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just shut down mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some guidance to get it working again. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not informative.
Thanks in advance for your support!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have experienced a comparable problem with my Bosch SMS50M12EP27 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a comprehensive service guide online. It includes step-by-step instructions, electrical schematics, and diagnostic hints. Here’s the link, I found it on a blog thanks to a subreddit :

Hello, assistance required please I too have a Bosch SMS50M12EP27 dishwasher, and I got the service guide shared above. Could anyone explain how to check the power supply and what parts to inspect initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring schematics. Any advice would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hello, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I checked the power supply, and the outlet, evrything is working, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the guide, I expect to have 120V there, correct? How do I check the control board? Is my appliance completely dead? The fuse seem fine, I checked it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔

I believe my dishwasher has an electrical issue because it isn't starting. I’m not very tech savvy with fixing things, but I’m open to give it a shot. I have a current tester and some simple tools. Can someone help me on where to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door mechanism could be the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide serial number if required!

Avoid jumping into replacing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the method to troubleshooting issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply allow the company handle the repair. Does your dishwasher have issues with the screen, lights, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by checking the power supply, latch, and mainboard. It’s crucial to move step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the mainboard or motor. First, check if the appliance is powered on. It’s as easy as that. Also, inspect the door switch and thermal fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a service center to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can easily diagnose the problem and identify the faulty part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the dishwasher prior to working on it).

I think I damaged my appliance heating element while trying to replace the water valve. Now it doesn’t warm up at all while running. Is it likely I caused more issues? Something’s not right. I downloaded the Bosch SMS50M12EP27 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me determine what went wrong. Hoping for the best...

This is my go-to checklist for diagnosing a faulty dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Check the outlet and terminal block as well. Door Switch: Check for continuity. A faulty wire can stop the dishwasher from working. Fuse: Check if it’s damaged. Replace it if necessary. Control Board: Inspect for obvious damage or disconnected connections. Motor and Pump: Test for continuity and ensure they’re working properly.
