Hi folks,
My Bosch SMS5100300 dishwasher has ceased functioning, and I’d like to fix the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this machine, or can point me in the right direction, I’d really value it. When I try to start a cleaning cycle, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just stopped mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some advice to resolve the issue. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not informative.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have had a similar issue with my Bosch SMS5100300 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a comprehensive service manual on the internet. It features step-by-step directions, electrical schematics, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the URL, I discovered it on a blog through reddit :

Hello, assistance required please I too have a Bosch SMS5100300 dishwasher, and I downloaded the service manual mentioned above. Could anyone explain how to test the electrical supply and what components to inspect first? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring diagrams. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I checked the electrical supply, and the outlet, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the connection point. According to the schematic in the book, I expect to have some voltage there, correct? How do I test the mainboard? Is my appliance completely dead? The fuse seem good, I checked it with a multimeter. Any suggestions? 🤔

I believe my appliance has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a multimeter and some basic tools. Can anyone help me on where to start? I’ve heard the control board, motor, or door mechanism could be the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide serial number if needed!

Avoid jumping into changing parts right away. Depending on the problem, the method to troubleshooting issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled for safety, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle everything. Does your appliance have issues with the screen, lights, or makes sounds? Start with the fundamentals by inspecting the electrical connection, door switch, and mainboard. It’s important to move step by step instead of hastily swapping parts like the control board or motor. First, verify if the appliance is powered on. It’s as easy as that. Also, inspect the door switch and fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a repair shop to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a bit more. They can easily identify the problem and identify the faulty part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to fix it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the dishwasher before trying to repair it).

I think I damaged my dishwasher thermal resistance while trying to replace the water valve. Now it won’t warm up at all while running. Is it likely I caused more issues? Something’s not right. I downloaded the Bosch SMS5100300 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll assist me determine what went wrong. Fingers crossed...

This is my checklist for diagnosing a malfunctioning dishwasher: Power Supply: Verify the dishwasher is getting power. Test the socket and terminal block as well. Door Switch: Check for continuity. A broken switch can prevent the dishwasher from starting. Thermal Fuse: Inspect if it’s blown. Swap it if needed. Control Board: Inspect for obvious damage or loose connections. Pump and Motor: Test for continuity and confirm they’re functioning properly.
