Hello folks,
My Bosch SMS5102401 dishwasher has ceased functioning, and I’d like to address the issue myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this machine, or can point me in the right direction, I’d really thank you. When I try to start a washing cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no water flow, and no sounds. It just shut down mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some guidance to get it working again. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not useful.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have experienced a similar issue with my Bosch SMS5102401 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I found a comprehensive service guide on the internet. It includes detailed instructions, wiring schematics, and diagnostic hints. Here’s the URL, I discovered it on a blog on reddit :

Hello, help needed please I also have a Bosch SMS5102401 dishwasher, and I downloaded the repair manual mentioned above. Could anyone explain how to check the electrical supply and what parts to test initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the electrical schematics. Any advice would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m experiencing trouble with my dishwasher too. I inspected the electrical supply, and the socket, evrything is working, but there’s no voltage at the connection point. According to the wiring diagram in the guide, I should have some voltage there, right? How do I check the control board? Is my appliance totally non-functional? The fuse seem good, I checked it with a voltage meter. Any suggestions? 🤔

I think my appliance has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very experienced with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a current tester and some basic equipment. Can someone help me on how to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door mechanism could be the problem. Any advice would be helpful, can provide serial number if required!

Avoid rushing into changing parts right away. Depending on the issue, the approach to diagnosing issues may vary. Sometimes, appliances are recalled for safety, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle everything. Does your dishwasher have issues with the display, lights, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by inspecting the electrical connection, door switch, and control board. It’s important to proceed step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the mainboard or motor. First, check if the appliance is getting power. It’s as easy as that. Also, check the door switch and thermal fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a service center to prevent causing more damage, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly diagnose the issue and find the broken part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the appliance prior to trying to repair it).

Here’s my preferred checklist for diagnosing a faulty dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is receiving power. Check the outlet and connection point too. Latch: Test for continuity. A broken switch can stop the dishwasher from starting. Thermal Fuse: Inspect if it’s blown. Swap it if needed. Mainboard: Inspect for visible damage or disconnected connections. Pump and Pump: Test for proper operation and confirm they’re functioning properly. For more detailed instructions, refer to this URL. : https://washdrydazzle.com/education/dishwasher-education
