Hi all, My Bosch SMS815011 dishwasher has failed, and I’d like to repair the issue myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this appliance, or can offer suggestions, I’d really be thankful. When I try to start a washing cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no water flow, and no sounds. It just quit mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some support to get it working again. Please don't share the user manual, I already have it and it’s not informative. Thanks in advance for any advice!
Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum!
I have had a comparable problem with my Bosch SMS815011 dishwasher a few months ago, and I found a detailed service manual online. It includes detailed instructions, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic hints. Here’s the URL, I discovered it on a blog through a subreddit :
Hi, help required please I too have a Bosch SMS815011 dishwasher, and I downloaded the repair manual mentioned above. Could someone explain how to test the power supply and what parts to test initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring schematics. Any advice would be appreciated!
Start by checking the basics:
1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model).
2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter.
3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.
I just got the Bosch SMS815011 dishwasher maintenance guide from the URL above. I couldn’t find it elsewhere without paying. Thanks a lot for providing it, you’re a real savior!
Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I checked the electrical supply, and the outlet, evrything is working, but there’s no power at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the guide, I expect to have some voltage there, correct? How do I check the control board? Is my dishwasher completely dead? The fuse seem good, I checked it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔
I believe my appliance has an electrical problem because it won’t start at all. I’m not very experienced with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I have a multimeter and some simple equipment. Can someone help me on how to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door switch could be the problem. Any advice would be appreciated, can provide serial number if required!
Don't jump into changing parts immediately. Depending on the issue, the method to troubleshooting malfunctions may differ. Sometimes, appliances are recalled, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle everything.
Does your appliance have issues with the screen, indicators, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by checking the electrical connection, latch, and control board.
It’s important to proceed step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the mainboard or pump. First, verify if the dishwasher is powered on. It’s as easy as that. Also, inspect the door switch and thermal fuse.
If you’re a total beginner in appliance repair, it might be better to call a service center to avoid causing more damage, even if it costs a bit more. They can quickly diagnose the issue and identify the broken part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A tip: always unplug the dishwasher before trying to repair it).
I believe I damaged my dishwasher thermal resistance while trying to replace the water inlet valve. Now it doesn’t warm up at all while running. Is it likely I caused more issues? Something’s not right.
I grabbed the Bosch SMS815011 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me figure out what went wrong. Fingers crossed...
This is my preferred checklist for diagnosing a malfunctioning dishwasher:
Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is getting power. Test the outlet and connection point too.
Latch: Check for continuity. A faulty switch can prevent the dishwasher from working.
Thermal Fuse: Inspect if it’s blown. Swap it if necessary.
Mainboard: Examine for visible damage or loose connections.
Motor and Pump: Check for continuity and ensure they’re working properly.
