Hello people, My Bosch SMU50E18SK32 dishwasher has broken down, and I’d like to address the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this machine, or can point me in the right direction, I’d really be thankful. When I try to start a washing cycle, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just failed mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to repair it. Please don't share the user manual, I already have it and it’s not useful. Thanks in advance!
Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum!
I have had a similar issue with my Bosch SMU50E18SK32 dishwasher a few months ago, and I discovered a detailed service manual online. It includes detailed instructions, wiring schematics, and troubleshooting hints. Here’s the link, I found it on a blog through a subreddit :
Hi, help required please I also have a Bosch SMU50E18SK32 dishwasher, and I downloaded the repair guide mentioned above. Could anyone clarify how to test the electrical supply and what components to test first? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the electrical diagrams. Any suggestions would be great!
Start by checking the basics:
1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model).
2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter.
3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.
Hi, I’m experiencing trouble with my appliance too. I checked the electrical supply, and the socket, evrything is fine, but there’s no power at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the manual, I should have some voltage there, right? How do I test the mainboard? Is my dishwasher totally dead? The fuses seem fine, I tested it with a multimeter. Any suggestions? 🤔
I think my appliance has an electrical issue because it won’t start at all. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a current tester and some simple equipment. Can someone guide me on how to start? I’ve heard the control board, motor, or door switch could be the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide model number if needed!
Avoid rushing into changing parts right away. Depending on the problem, the approach to diagnosing malfunctions may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply let the company handle everything.
Does your appliance have issues with the screen, indicators, or makes sounds? Start with the basics by checking the electrical connection, door switch, and mainboard.
It’s important to move step by step instead of quickly replacing parts like the mainboard or pump. First, check if the appliance is powered on. It’s as simple as that. Also, check the latch and thermal fuse.
If you’re a complete beginner in appliance repair, it might be better to call a repair shop to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can easily diagnose the issue and identify the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to fix it yourself. (A tip: always unplug the dishwasher prior to working on it).
I believe I damaged my appliance heating element while trying to replace the water inlet valve. Now it won’t heat at all while operating. Is it possible I caused more damage? Something’s not working properly.
I downloaded the Bosch SMU50E18SK32 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll assist me determine what went wrong. Fingers crossed...
Here’s my checklist for troubleshooting a faulty dishwasher:
Power Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Check the socket and connection point too.
Door Switch: Check for continuity. A broken wire can prevent the dishwasher from starting.
Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Swap it if needed.
Mainboard: Examine for obvious damage or loose connections.
Motor and Pump: Test for continuity and ensure they’re working properly.
