Hello friends, My Bosch SMU522201 dishwasher has broken down, and I’d like to address the issue myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this machine, or can offer suggestions, I’d really value it. When I try to start a cycle, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just died mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some support to resolve the issue. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not useful. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I have experienced a similar problem with my Bosch SMU522201 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a comprehensive service manual on the internet. It includes detailed instructions, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the URL, I found it on a blog thanks to reddit :
Hello, help needed please I also have a Bosch SMU522201 dishwasher, and I downloaded the service manual shared above. Could someone clarify how to test the electrical supply and what parts to test first? I’m a bit confused by the electrical diagrams. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Start by checking the basics:
1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model).
2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter.
3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.
Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I checked the power supply, and the socket, evrything is fine, but there’s no power at the terminal block. According to the wiring diagram in the guide, I should have 120V there, correct? How do I test the mainboard? Is my appliance completely dead? The fuses seem fine, I checked it with a voltage meter. Any ideas? 🤔
I believe my dishwasher has an electrical issue because it isn't starting. I’m not very tech savvy with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I have a current tester and some simple equipment. Can anyone guide me on how to begin? I’ve heard the control board, motor, or door mechanism could be the issue. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide model number if needed!
Don’t Rush into changing parts immediately. Depending on the issue, the approach to diagnosing malfunctions may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply allow the company handle the repair.
Does your appliance have problems with the display, indicators, or makes noises? Start with the basics by checking the electrical connection, latch, and mainboard.
It’s crucial to move step by step instead of quickly replacing parts like the mainboard or motor. First, verify if the appliance is getting power. It’s as simple as that. Also, check the latch and fuse.
If you’re a complete beginner in appliance repair, it might be better to call a service center to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly identify the issue and find the broken part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to fix it yourself. (A piece of advice: always unplug the dishwasher before trying to repair it).
I think I damaged my appliance heating element while trying to swap the water inlet valve. Now it won’t warm up at all while running. Is it possible I caused more issues? Something’s not working properly.
I grabbed the Bosch SMU522201 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll assist me figure out what went wrong. Fingers crossed...
This is my checklist for diagnosing a malfunctioning dishwasher:
Power Supply: Verify the dishwasher is getting power. Test the socket and connection point as well.
Door Switch: Test for continuity. A faulty wire can stop the dishwasher from working.
Fuse: Check if it’s blown. Swap it if necessary.
Mainboard: Inspect for obvious damage or loose connections.
Pump and Pump: Check for continuity and confirm they’re working properly.
