Hello guys,
My Bosch SMU85M35DE28 dishwasher has broken down, and I’d like to diagnose the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this machine, or can help me out, I’d really value it. When I try to start a cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no water flow, and no sounds. It just stopped mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some guidance to resolve the issue. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not informative.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have had a comparable problem with my Bosch SMU85M35DE28 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a detailed service manual on the internet. It features detailed directions, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the link, I found it on a blog on a subreddit :

Hi, assistance needed please I also have a Bosch SMU85M35DE28 dishwasher, and I got the repair guide mentioned above. Could someone explain how to test the electrical supply and what parts to inspect first? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the electrical schematics. Any advice would be appreciated!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my dishwasher too. I checked the power supply, and the socket, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the guide, I should have some voltage there, right? How do I check the mainboard? Is my dishwasher totally dead? The fuses seem good, I checked it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔

I believe my appliance has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very tech savvy with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a multimeter and some basic equipment. Can anyone guide me on where to start? I’ve heard the control board, motor, or door mechanism could be the issue. Any advice would be helpful, can provide serial number if needed!

Don’t Rush into changing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the approach to troubleshooting malfunctions may differ. Sometimes, appliances are recalled, and you can simply allow the company handle the repair. Does your appliance have problems with the screen, indicators, or makes sounds? Start with the fundamentals by checking the power supply, door switch, and control board. It’s important to move step by step instead of quickly replacing parts like the mainboard or motor. First, check if the appliance is powered on. It’s as easy as that. Also, check the door switch and fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a service center to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly identify the problem and identify the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the appliance before working on it).

This is my preferred checklist for troubleshooting a faulty dishwasher: Power Supply: Verify the dishwasher is getting power. Test the socket and connection point as well. Latch: Test for continuity. A broken wire can stop the dishwasher from working. Fuse: Inspect if it’s blown. Swap it if needed. Control Board: Examine for visible damage or loose connections. Pump and Pump: Test for continuity and ensure they’re working properly. For more comprehensive instructions, check out this URL. : https://www.searshomeservices.com/symptom/dishwasher-burning-smell
