Hello my good fellows, My Bosch SMV53M00GB13 dishwasher has stopped working, and I’d like to address the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this appliance, or can help me out, I’d really be grateful. When I try to start a cleaning cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no sounds, and no water is flowing. It just failed mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to resolve the issue. Please don't share the user manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful. Thanks in advance for any assistance!
Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum!
I have experienced a comparable problem with my Bosch SMV53M00GB13 dishwasher a few months ago, and I discovered a comprehensive service guide online. It includes detailed instructions, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the URL, I discovered it on a blog thanks to a subreddit :
Hello, assistance required please I too have a Bosch SMV53M00GB13 dishwasher, and I got the repair guide mentioned above. Could anyone clarify how to test the electrical supply and what parts to inspect first? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the electrical diagrams. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Start by checking the basics:
1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model).
2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter.
3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.
Hello, I’m experiencing trouble with my appliance too. I checked the electrical supply, and the outlet, evrything is working, but there’s no power at the terminal block. According to the wiring diagram in the pdf, I expect to have 120V there, right? How do I test the mainboard? Is my appliance completely non-functional? The fuses seem fine, I tested it with a multimeter. Any suggestions? 🤔
I believe my appliance has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a multimeter and some basic equipment. Can someone guide me on where to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door mechanism could be the issue. Any advice would be appreciated, can provide serial number if needed!
Avoid jumping into changing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the approach to diagnosing issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle the repair.
Does your dishwasher have issues with the display, lights, or makes sounds? Start with the fundamentals by checking the electrical connection, latch, and control board.
It’s important to move step by step instead of hastily swapping parts like the control board or pump. First, check if the appliance is powered on. It’s as easy as that. Also, inspect the latch and thermal fuse.
If you’re a complete beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be better to call a repair shop to avoid causing more issues, even if it costs a bit more. They can easily identify the problem and find the broken part. Then, it’s your choice whether you decide to fix it yourself. (A tip: always unplug the appliance before working on it).
I believe I damaged my dishwasher heating element while trying to swap the water inlet valve. Now it won’t warm up at all while operating. Is it likely I caused more damage? Something’s not right.
I downloaded the Bosch SMV53M00GB13 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me determine what went wrong. Fingers crossed...
This is my go-to checklist for troubleshooting a faulty dishwasher:
Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is getting power. Test the socket and terminal block as well.
Latch: Check for continuity. A broken switch can prevent the dishwasher from working.
Thermal Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Swap it if needed.
Mainboard: Inspect for obvious damage or loose connections.
Pump and Motor: Test for proper operation and confirm they’re functioning properly.
