Hi all,
My Bosch SMV53M90EU32 dishwasher has stopped working, and I’d like to troubleshoot the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can guide me, I’d really value it. When I try to start a washing cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no sounds, and no water is flowing. It just died mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some advice to troubleshoot it. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not informative.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I experienced a similar problem with my Bosch SMV53M90EU32 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I found a detailed service manual on the internet. It features detailed instructions, electrical diagrams, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the link, I discovered it on a blog on reddit :

Hi, assistance required please I too have a Bosch SMV53M90EU32 dishwasher, and I downloaded the service manual shared above. Could someone explain how to check the electrical supply and what components to inspect initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the electrical diagrams. Any advice would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hello, I’m experiencing trouble with my appliance too. I inspected the electrical supply, and the socket, evrything is working, but there’s no voltage at the connection point. According to the schematic in the guide, I should have some voltage there, correct? How do I test the control board? Is my dishwasher completely faulty? The fuses seem fine, I tested it with a voltage meter. Any ideas? 🤔

I believe my dishwasher has an electrical problem because it won’t start at all. I’m not very experienced with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I have a multimeter and some simple equipment. Can someone guide me on where to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door mechanism could be the problem. Any advice would be appreciated, can provide model number if required!

Avoid rushing into changing parts immediately. Depending on the issue, the approach to diagnosing issues may differ. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle the repair. Does your appliance have problems with the display, lights, or makes sounds? Start with the basics by inspecting the power supply, door switch, and control board. It’s important to proceed step by step instead of quickly replacing parts like the mainboard or motor. First, check if the appliance is getting power. It’s as easy as that. Also, inspect the door switch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a service center to avoid causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly identify the issue and find the broken part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always unplug the appliance before working on it).

This is my preferred checklist for diagnosing a faulty dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is receiving power. Test the outlet and terminal block as well. Door Switch: Test for continuity. A broken switch can stop the dishwasher from starting. Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Replace it if needed. Mainboard: Examine for visible damage or disconnected connections. Pump and Motor: Check for continuity and ensure they’re working properly.
