Hello people,
My Bosch SPS512201 dishwasher has ceased functioning, and I’d like to diagnose the issue myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can offer suggestions, I’d really be grateful. When I try to start a cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no water flow, and no sounds. It just died mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to fix it. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have had a comparable problem with my Bosch SPS512201 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I found a comprehensive service guide online. It features detailed instructions, wiring schematics, and troubleshooting hints. Here’s the link, I found it on a blog through a subreddit :

Hi, assistance required please I too have a Bosch SPS512201 dishwasher, and I got the repair manual mentioned above. Could anyone clarify how to test the electrical supply and what components to inspect first? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring schematics. Any suggestions would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my dishwasher too. I inspected the power supply, and the outlet, evrything is fine, but there’s no power at the connection point. According to the schematic in the manual, I should have 120V there, right? How do I test the control board? Is my dishwasher totally non-functional? The fuses seem fine, I tested it with a voltage meter. Any suggestions? 🤔

I think my dishwasher has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very experienced with repairs, but I’m open to give it a try. I have a multimeter and some simple equipment. Can someone help me on where to begin? I’ve heard the control board, motor, or door switch could be the issue. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide serial number if required!

Don't jump into changing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the method to diagnosing malfunctions may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled for safety, and you can simply let the manufacturer handle the repair. Does your dishwasher have issues with the screen, lights, or makes sounds? Start with the basics by inspecting the power supply, latch, and control board. It’s crucial to proceed step by step instead of hastily swapping parts like the mainboard or motor. First, check if the appliance is powered on. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the latch and thermal fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be better to call a repair shop to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can easily identify the problem and identify the broken part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the dishwasher before working on it).

I think I damaged my dishwasher heating element while trying to swap the water valve. Now it doesn’t warm up at all while running. Is it possible I caused more damage? Something’s not right. I grabbed the Bosch SPS512201 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me determine what went wrong. Fingers crossed...

Here’s my checklist for diagnosing a malfunctioning dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is receiving power. Check the outlet and connection point too. Door Switch: Check for continuity. A faulty switch can stop the dishwasher from working. Thermal Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Swap it if needed. Mainboard: Inspect for visible damage or loose connections. Motor and Motor: Check for continuity and confirm they’re functioning properly. Here’s what I discovered:

With age a dishwasher will become far less effective at washing and drying. Also depending on how you use it it will likely build seasoning on its own just by shallow frying certain foods in it. But the part was originally offered to someone else. I shake my fist in the air ask God why. Remove and soak the filter in warm soapy water. From what I ve read the most common reasons why the dishwasher wont start is the door latch not closing properly to activate the latch switch or the switch itself being faulty and the electronic control not working. Choose white or black for the body and decide on one of 12 colors for the door. By Mollie HammondJune 03 2024. It was so easy to use I stuck with it This post is not sponsored. Protecting your pods from too much UV exposure will help maintain their potency and extend their shelf life. Unfortunately dishwasher errors can be a result of any number of problems. If you ve already rinsed your items it can fool the sensors into thinking your load is cleaner than it actually is. Clogged drain A clogged drain is one of the most common causes of poor drainage in dishwashers. So i detached the dishwasher drain hose from the house drain pipe and clipped the hose onto a 5 gallon plastic bucket for a test cycle yup dishwasher was never broken. I simply stated that is normally how it s done around here. Dishwasher tablets might stick together if they come in contact with the moisture. From a scientific point of view the question of how is particularly interesting because everyday household chores hold great potential for saving resources. Plus you ve extended the lifespan of your microwave by keeping up with a little maintenance. Noise is something that does differ from a cheap to expensive brand. The problem unsurprisingly persisted. I have a leak in the kitchen that comes from the dishwasher. Notice loud humming noises coming from the motor during cycles Your drive motor which powers the water in your dishwasher could be the culprit. For example an 800 watt element running for 25 minutes would cost 5 cents at a power rate of 0. Plastic runs the risk of warping at higher temperatures. This would only happen with hot soft water. And considering there s less water to heat versus washing by hand less energy is ultimately required when running the dishwasher. Do your research before committing to any Walmart stocked brand. We test each dishwasher s three main dishwasher cycles quick heavy and normal by baking nasty food and beverage stains on 15 to 20 dishes that are then loaded into the dishwasher per the manufacturer s loading directions. The dishwasher will not start please call appliance technician. Still not knowing how to use the dishwasher tablets properly tops the list.
