Hi guys,
My Bosch SRS55M78RU01 dishwasher has ceased functioning, and I’d like to fix the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can offer suggestions, I’d really value it. When I try to start a wash, nothing happens: no lights, no sounds, and no water is flowing. It just shut down mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to fix it. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not informative.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I had a similar problem with my Bosch SRS55M78RU01 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a detailed service guide online. It features detailed instructions, wiring schematics, and troubleshooting hints. Here’s the URL, I found it on a blog thanks to a subreddit :

Hello, assistance needed please I also have a Bosch SRS55M78RU01 dishwasher, and I downloaded the repair guide mentioned above. Could someone clarify how to check the electrical supply and what parts to inspect initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring schematics. Any advice would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m experiencing trouble with my dishwasher too. I checked the electrical supply, and the outlet, evrything is working, but there’s no power at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the manual, I should have some voltage there, correct? How do I check the mainboard? Is my dishwasher completely dead? The fuses seem good, I checked it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔

I think my appliance has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I have a multimeter and some simple equipment. Can someone help me on where to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door switch could be the issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated, can provide model number if needed!

Don’t Rush into changing parts immediately. Depending on the issue, the method to diagnosing issues may differ. Sometimes, appliances are recalled, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle the repair. Does your appliance have problems with the display, indicators, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by inspecting the power supply, door switch, and mainboard. It’s crucial to proceed step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the mainboard or motor. First, verify if the appliance is powered on. It’s as easy as that. Also, check the door switch and fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be better to call a repair shop to prevent causing more damage, even if it costs a bit more. They can quickly diagnose the issue and find the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the dishwasher prior to trying to repair it).

This is my preferred checklist for diagnosing a malfunctioning dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is receiving power. Test the socket and connection point as well. Latch: Test for continuity. A faulty switch can stop the dishwasher from starting. Thermal Fuse: Inspect if it’s blown. Replace it if necessary. Mainboard: Inspect for visible damage or loose connections. Motor and Pump: Check for continuity and confirm they’re functioning properly.
