Hello all,
My GE CDT865SMJ0DS dishwasher has failed, and I’d like to address the issue myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can help me out, I’d really thank you. When I try to start a cleaning cycle, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just died mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some support to troubleshoot it. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful.
Thanks in advance for your support!

It includes detailed directions, wiring schematics, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the URL, I discovered it on a blog on a subreddit :

Hi, help needed please I also have a GE CDT865SMJ0DS dishwasher, and I got the repair guide shared above. Could someone clarify how to test the power supply and what parts to inspect initially? I’m a bit confused by the electrical diagrams. Any suggestions would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m experiencing trouble with my dishwasher too. I checked the power supply, and the socket, evrything is working, but there’s no power at the connection point. According to the wiring diagram in the book, I expect to have some voltage there, right? How do I check the control board? Is my dishwasher completely non-functional? The fuses seem good, I checked it with a voltage meter. Any ideas? 🤔

I believe my appliance has an electrical problem because it won’t start at all. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a multimeter and some basic tools. Can anyone help me on where to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door mechanism could be the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide serial number if needed!

Avoid rushing into changing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the method to diagnosing issues may differ. Sometimes, devices are recalled for safety, and you can simply let the company handle the repair. Does your dishwasher have problems with the screen, indicators, or makes sounds? Start with the basics by inspecting the electrical connection, door switch, and mainboard. It’s important to proceed step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the control board or pump. First, check if the appliance is getting power. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the latch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in appliance repair, it might be better to call a service center to avoid causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly identify the problem and find the broken part. Then, it’s up to you whether you want to fix it yourself. (A piece of advice: always unplug the dishwasher before trying to repair it).

This is my checklist for troubleshooting a malfunctioning dishwasher: Power Supply: Check the dishwasher is receiving power. Test the socket and terminal block as well. Door Switch: Test for continuity. A faulty switch can prevent the dishwasher from working. Thermal Fuse: Check if it’s blown. Swap it if necessary. Mainboard: Examine for obvious damage or disconnected connections. Motor and Pump: Check for continuity and confirm they’re functioning properly.
