Hi folks,
My GE PDT720SGH6BB dishwasher has stopped working, and I’d like to fix the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can provide some advice, I’d really be grateful. When I try to start a wash, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just died mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some advice to troubleshoot it. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not useful.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have had a similar issue with my GE PDT720SGH6BB dishwasher a few months ago, and I discovered a detailed service guide on the internet. It includes detailed directions, wiring schematics, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the URL, I found it on a blog on reddit :

Hello, help needed please I too have a GE PDT720SGH6BB dishwasher, and I downloaded the service manual shared above. Could anyone clarify how to test the electrical supply and what parts to inspect initially? I’m a bit confused by the electrical diagrams. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I checked the power supply, and the socket, evrything is working, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the wiring diagram in the guide, I should have 120V there, right? How do I test the control board? Is my appliance completely dead? The fuse seem good, I checked it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔

I think my dishwasher has an electrical issue because it isn't starting. I’m not very tech savvy with repairs, but I’m open to give it a shot. I have a multimeter and some simple equipment. Can anyone help me on where to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door mechanism could be the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated, can provide model number if needed!

Avoid rushing into changing parts right away. Depending on the problem, the approach to diagnosing malfunctions may differ. Sometimes, appliances are recalled for safety, and you can simply let the company handle everything. Does your dishwasher have problems with the display, indicators, or makes sounds? Start with the basics by checking the electrical connection, latch, and control board. It’s important to move step by step instead of quickly replacing parts like the mainboard or pump. First, check if the dishwasher is getting power. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the latch and fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be better to call a service center to avoid causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can easily identify the issue and find the broken part. Then, it’s your choice whether you decide to fix it yourself. (A piece of advice: always unplug the appliance before working on it).

Here’s my preferred checklist for diagnosing a faulty dishwasher: Power Supply: Verify the dishwasher is getting power. Test the outlet and terminal block too. Latch: Check for continuity. A faulty switch can prevent the dishwasher from starting. Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Replace it if needed. Mainboard: Examine for visible damage or disconnected connections. Pump and Motor: Test for proper operation and confirm they’re functioning properly.
