Hi friends,
My GE PDW7700G00BB dishwasher has failed, and I’d like to diagnose the issue myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can offer suggestions, I’d really be grateful. When I try to start a cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no sounds, no water flow. It just shut down mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some advice to troubleshoot it. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not informative.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have experienced a similar problem with my GE PDW7700G00BB dishwasher a few months ago, and I found a comprehensive service manual online. It includes detailed directions, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting tips. Here’s the URL, I found it on a blog through a subreddit :

Hi, assistance required please I also have a GE PDW7700G00BB dishwasher, and I got the repair guide shared above. Could someone explain how to test the electrical supply and what components to test first? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring diagrams. Any advice would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hello, I’m having trouble with my dishwasher too. I inspected the power supply, and the socket, evrything is working, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the wiring diagram in the book, I expect to have some voltage there, right? How do I check the control board? Is my dishwasher totally faulty? The fuse seem good, I tested it with a voltage meter. Any ideas? 🤔

I believe my dishwasher has an electrical issue because it won’t start at all. I’m not very skilled with fixing things, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a current tester and some basic tools. Can someone help me on how to start? I’ve heard the control board, motor, or door switch could be the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide model number if required!

Don’t Rush into replacing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the approach to troubleshooting issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle everything. Does your appliance have problems with the screen, lights, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by checking the power supply, latch, and control board. It’s crucial to move step by step instead of quickly swapping parts like the mainboard or pump. First, check if the appliance is powered on. It’s as easy as that. Also, inspect the door switch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be better to call a repair shop to avoid causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly identify the issue and identify the faulty part. Then, it’s up to you whether you want to fix it yourself. (A tip: always disconnect the appliance before working on it).

This is my preferred checklist for troubleshooting a malfunctioning dishwasher: Power Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Check the socket and terminal block as well. Latch: Test for continuity. A faulty wire can prevent the dishwasher from starting. Thermal Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Replace it if needed. Mainboard: Inspect for visible damage or loose connections. Pump and Motor: Test for proper operation and confirm they’re functioning properly.
