Hi my good fellows,
My Hotpoint HDA59703 dishwasher has failed, and I’d like to diagnose the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can provide some advice, I’d really appreciate it. When I try to start a cleaning cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no sounds, no water flow. It just quit mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to troubleshoot it. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not informative.
Thanks in advance for your support!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have had a similar problem with my Hotpoint HDA59703 dishwasher a few months ago, and I found a detailed service manual on the internet. It features step-by-step directions, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic hints. Here’s the URL, I discovered it on a blog through a subreddit :

Hi, help required please I also have a Hotpoint HDA59703 dishwasher, and I got the repair manual mentioned above. Could someone explain how to check the power supply and what parts to test initially? I’m a bit confused by the electrical schematics. Any advice would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hello, I’m experiencing trouble with my appliance too. I inspected the electrical supply, and the socket, evrything is fine, but there’s no power at the connection point. According to the wiring diagram in the guide, I expect to have some voltage there, correct? How do I check the mainboard? Is my appliance completely dead? The fuses seem fine, I checked it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔

I believe my appliance has an electrical issue because it won’t start at all. I’m not very skilled with fixing things, but I’m open to give it a shot. I have a multimeter and some basic tools. Can someone guide me on where to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door switch could be the issue. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide serial number if needed!

Don't jump into replacing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the approach to troubleshooting issues may differ. Sometimes, appliances are recalled, and you can simply let the company handle everything. Does your appliance have issues with the screen, indicators, or makes sounds? Start with the fundamentals by checking the electrical connection, door switch, and mainboard. It’s crucial to move step by step instead of quickly swapping parts like the control board or pump. First, check if the dishwasher is powered on. It’s as easy as that. Also, inspect the door switch and thermal fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in appliance repair, it might be better to call a repair shop to avoid causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly identify the issue and find the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the dishwasher prior to trying to repair it).

Here’s my go-to checklist for troubleshooting a malfunctioning dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is getting power. Test the outlet and terminal block as well. Latch: Test for continuity. A broken switch can prevent the dishwasher from starting. Fuse: Inspect if it’s blown. Replace it if needed. Control Board: Examine for obvious damage or disconnected connections. Motor and Motor: Check for continuity and ensure they’re functioning properly.
