Hi friends,
My Hotpoint HDB72003 dishwasher has ceased functioning, and I’d like to diagnose the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this appliance, or can guide me, I’d really appreciate it. When I try to start a washing cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no water flow, and no sounds. It just failed mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to fix it. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not useful.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I had a comparable issue with my Hotpoint HDB72003 dishwasher a few months ago, and I discovered a detailed service manual online. It includes step-by-step directions, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting tips. Here’s the link, I discovered it on a blog thanks to a subreddit :

Hi, help required please I too have a Hotpoint HDB72003 dishwasher, and I downloaded the repair manual mentioned above. Could someone clarify how to check the electrical supply and what parts to inspect initially? I’m a bit confused by the wiring schematics. Any advice would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m experiencing trouble with my appliance too. I inspected the electrical supply, and the outlet, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the wiring diagram in the guide, I should have 120V there, correct? How do I check the mainboard? Is my dishwasher completely non-functional? The fuse seem fine, I tested it with a voltage meter. Any ideas? 🤔

I believe my dishwasher has an electrical issue because it won’t start at all. I’m not very skilled with fixing things, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I have a current tester and some simple tools. Can anyone help me on where to start? I’ve heard the control board, motor, or door switch could be the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide model number if needed!

Don't jump into changing parts right away. Depending on the issue, the approach to diagnosing issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply let the company handle everything. Does your dishwasher have problems with the screen, indicators, or makes sounds? Start with the basics by checking the power supply, latch, and mainboard. It’s important to move step by step instead of quickly replacing parts like the control board or motor. First, check if the dishwasher is powered on. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the door switch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in appliance repair, it might be safer to call a service center to prevent causing more damage, even if it costs a bit more. They can easily diagnose the problem and identify the faulty part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A tip: always disconnect the dishwasher prior to trying to repair it).

I think I damaged my appliance thermal resistance while trying to swap the water inlet valve. Now it doesn’t heat at all while running. Is it likely I caused more issues? Something’s not right. I grabbed the Hotpoint HDB72003 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me determine what went wrong. Fingers crossed...

This is my checklist for troubleshooting a malfunctioning dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Check the outlet and terminal block too. Door Switch: Check for continuity. A faulty wire can stop the dishwasher from working. Thermal Fuse: Check if it’s blown. Swap it if needed. Mainboard: Inspect for obvious damage or loose connections. Motor and Motor: Check for proper operation and ensure they’re working properly. Here’s what I found:

Powder is economical and versatile but can make a mess if not handled properly. Here s a link that describes how to enter diagnostics mode. Eco mode or the energy saving setting on a dishwasher helps to lower the wash and rinse temperatures during a cycle in turn using less energy that would have otherwise been used to heat the water. We tested this Comfee countertop unit in our Lab and were impressed by its user friendliness. Here are our top tips for storage solutions for your wooden utensils. It just doesn t seem like a good solution to my problem. Use the Finish Dishwasher Cleaner to help maintain your machine. I could not find any issues with the wiring and was not going to buy a new control board. But when you heard that telltale end of cycle beep you opened up your dishwasher only to find filthy dishes that weren t the least bit wet. While quickly staged hese pics are fairly representative of how the bottom rack of my DW gets loaded on a daily basis. Just make sure to never overdo it. If you ve heard a banging or clanking sound rattling around your copper pipes that is a prime example of water hammer. The only disadvantage to small dishwashers is that you can t wash as many dishes at once and they can be noisier. But if you re still not happy with your results we have a few additional tips. The dishwasher is also by Miele and takes care of the dishes nicely. I recently air fried dozens of batches of french fries and chicken Parmesan. What the heck is this It feels kind of gritty if you don t say it s from a dishwasher I would have guessed some sort of plaster joint compound grout. The biggest difference between a portable dishwasher versus a countertop dishwasher is the number of dishes they can wash. The basket does take up a fair bit of space on the bottom shelf. All in 1 dishwasher tablets from LIDL ALDI are great too but it does no harm to keep the salt container topped up if you are outside of scotland and the far south west. Once you feel the correct position you will know how to get it locked. The little plastic lever thing to the left of the main lock moves back but that doesn t seem to do anything. Portable dishwashers have lower capacities due to their tiny size and freestanding nature. Both BrandsClub clean fine but F P sad the double Netgear drawers convenience. To prevent this from happening try the following. While full size dishwashers excel in capacity slimline dishwashers are designed to save space and are more suitable for smaller kitchens or locations with limited available space.
