Hi my good fellows, My Kenmore 3631654993 dishwasher has stopped working, and I’d like to address the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this unit, or can point me in the right direction, I’d really be grateful. When I try to start a wash, nothing happens: no lights or sounds, and no water flows. It just quit mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to resolve the issue. Please don't share the user manual, I already have it and it’s not useful. Thanks in advance for any assistance!
Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum!
I have had a comparable issue with my Kenmore 3631654993 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a detailed service manual on the internet. It features detailed directions, electrical schematics, and diagnostic hints. Here’s the link, I found it on a blog through reddit :
Hello, assistance required please I also have a Kenmore 3631654993 dishwasher, and I downloaded the service manual mentioned above. Could someone explain how to check the power supply and what parts to test initially? I’m a bit confused by the wiring schematics. Any advice would be great!
Start by checking the basics:
1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model).
2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter.
3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.
Hi, I’m experiencing trouble with my appliance too. I checked the power supply, and the outlet, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the book, I expect to have some voltage there, correct? How do I check the control board? Is my dishwasher totally non-functional? The fuse seem fine, I checked it with a multimeter. Any suggestions? 🤔
I believe my dishwasher has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very tech savvy with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I have a multimeter and some simple equipment. Can anyone help me on where to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door switch could be the issue. Any advice would be appreciated, can provide serial number if needed!
Avoid jumping into replacing parts immediately. Depending on the issue, the approach to diagnosing issues may differ. Sometimes, devices are recalled for safety, and you can simply let the manufacturer handle the repair.
Does your dishwasher have issues with the screen, indicators, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by inspecting the electrical connection, latch, and control board.
It’s important to proceed step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the mainboard or pump. First, verify if the appliance is powered on. It’s as easy as that. Also, check the door switch and fuse.
If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be better to call a service center to prevent causing more damage, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly identify the issue and find the broken part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the appliance prior to working on it).
I think I damaged my dishwasher heating element while trying to swap the water inlet valve. Now it doesn’t heat at all while operating. Is it likely I caused more issues? Something’s not working properly.
I grabbed the Kenmore 3631654993 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll assist me determine what went wrong. Hoping for the best...
This is my go-to checklist for diagnosing a malfunctioning dishwasher:
Electrical Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Check the outlet and connection point as well.
Latch: Test for continuity. A faulty wire can prevent the dishwasher from starting.
Thermal Fuse: Check if it’s damaged. Swap it if necessary.
Control Board: Inspect for obvious damage or loose connections.
Pump and Motor: Check for continuity and confirm they’re functioning properly.
