Hello friends,
My Kenmore 58717345790 dishwasher has ceased functioning, and I’d like to fix the issue myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this unit, or can help me out, I’d really be thankful. When I try to start a wash, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just died mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some guidance to fix it. Please don't share the user manual, I already have it and it’s not informative.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, help needed please I also have a Kenmore 58717345790 dishwasher, and I got the service manual shared above. Could anyone explain how to check the power supply and what components to inspect first? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring diagrams. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m experiencing trouble with my appliance too. I checked the power supply, and the socket, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the guide, I expect to have 120V there, right? How do I check the mainboard? Is my appliance completely non-functional? The fuse seem good, I checked it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔

I think my appliance has an electrical problem because it won’t start at all. I’m not very experienced with repairs, but I’m open to give it a shot. I have a current tester and some simple tools. Can anyone guide me on where to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door mechanism could be the issue. Any advice would be helpful, can provide model number if needed!

Avoid jumping into changing parts right away. Depending on the problem, the method to diagnosing malfunctions may differ. Sometimes, appliances are recalled for safety, and you can simply let the manufacturer handle everything. Does your appliance have issues with the display, lights, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by checking the power supply, door switch, and control board. It’s crucial to proceed step by step instead of quickly replacing parts like the control board or pump. First, verify if the appliance is getting power. It’s as easy as that. Also, check the latch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be better to call a service center to avoid causing more issues, even if it costs a bit more. They can quickly diagnose the problem and identify the broken part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A tip: always disconnect the dishwasher before working on it).

Here’s my preferred checklist for diagnosing a malfunctioning dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Test the socket and connection point as well. Door Switch: Test for continuity. A broken switch can prevent the dishwasher from working. Thermal Fuse: Check if it’s blown. Swap it if needed. Mainboard: Examine for obvious damage or loose connections. Motor and Pump: Check for continuity and confirm they’re functioning properly.
