Hello friends,
My Kenmore 587733300 dishwasher has quit working, and I’d like to troubleshoot the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this machine, or can offer suggestions, I’d really be thankful. When I try to start a cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no sounds, no water flow. It just stopped mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some support to troubleshoot it. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not useful.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have experienced a comparable issue with my Kenmore 587733300 dishwasher a few months ago, and I found a detailed service manual on the internet. It includes step-by-step directions, electrical schematics, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the URL, I found it on a blog through a subreddit :

Hello, help required please I too have a Kenmore 587733300 dishwasher, and I downloaded the repair guide shared above. Could anyone clarify how to test the electrical supply and what parts to inspect initially? I’m a bit confused by the wiring diagrams. Any suggestions would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I checked the power supply, and the socket, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the guide, I should have some voltage there, correct? How do I check the mainboard? Is my appliance totally non-functional? The fuses seem good, I tested it with a multimeter. Any suggestions? 🤔

I believe my appliance has an electrical problem because it won’t start at all. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a multimeter and some basic tools. Can someone help me on how to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door switch could be the problem. Any advice would be helpful, can provide model number if needed!

Don't jump into replacing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the method to troubleshooting issues may vary. Sometimes, appliances are recalled, and you can simply let the company handle everything. Does your dishwasher have problems with the screen, indicators, or makes sounds? Start with the basics by checking the electrical connection, door switch, and control board. It’s important to move step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the control board or motor. First, verify if the dishwasher is powered on. It’s as easy as that. Also, inspect the door switch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a service center to avoid causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly diagnose the problem and identify the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to fix it yourself. (A tip: always disconnect the dishwasher before working on it).

Here’s my go-to checklist for diagnosing a malfunctioning dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is receiving power. Test the outlet and connection point too. Door Switch: Check for continuity. A broken wire can prevent the dishwasher from starting. Fuse: Check if it’s blown. Replace it if necessary. Mainboard: Examine for visible damage or loose connections. Motor and Pump: Test for proper operation and confirm they’re functioning properly.
