Hi folks, My Kenmore 66513283K117 dishwasher has broken down, and I’d like to address the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this machine, or can guide me, I’d really thank you. When I try to start a cycle, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just failed mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to resolve the issue. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I have had a similar problem with my Kenmore 66513283K117 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I found a detailed service guide online. It includes step-by-step directions, wiring schematics, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the link, I found it on a blog on a subreddit :
Hi, help required please I too have a Kenmore 66513283K117 dishwasher, and I downloaded the service guide mentioned above. Could anyone clarify how to test the electrical supply and what parts to inspect initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the electrical schematics. Any advice would be appreciated!
Start by checking the basics:
1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model).
2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter.
3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.
Hello, I’m experiencing trouble with my appliance too. I checked the electrical supply, and the socket, evrything is working, but there’s no power at the terminal block. According to the wiring diagram in the guide, I expect to have 120V there, correct? How do I check the mainboard? Is my dishwasher totally faulty? The fuses seem fine, I tested it with a multimeter. Any suggestions? 🤔
I think my dishwasher has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very tech savvy with fixing things, but I’m open to give it a try. I have a multimeter and some simple tools. Can someone guide me on how to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door mechanism could be the problem. Any advice would be appreciated, can provide model number if required!
Avoid rushing into replacing parts right away. Depending on the issue, the method to diagnosing issues may vary. Sometimes, appliances are recalled, and you can simply let the manufacturer handle everything.
Does your dishwasher have problems with the screen, lights, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by inspecting the power supply, door switch, and mainboard.
It’s crucial to move step by step instead of hastily swapping parts like the mainboard or motor. First, check if the appliance is getting power. It’s as easy as that. Also, check the latch and fuse.
If you’re a complete beginner in appliance repair, it might be better to call a repair shop to avoid causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly diagnose the problem and find the broken part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always unplug the appliance before working on it).
I believe I damaged my appliance heating element while trying to swap the water valve. Now it won’t warm up at all while operating. Is it possible I caused more damage? Something’s not right.
I downloaded the Kenmore 66513283K117 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me figure out what went wrong. Fingers crossed...
Here’s my checklist for diagnosing a faulty dishwasher:
Electrical Supply: Check the dishwasher is receiving power. Check the outlet and terminal block as well.
Latch: Test for continuity. A broken switch can stop the dishwasher from starting.
Thermal Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Swap it if necessary.
Control Board: Inspect for visible damage or loose connections.
Motor and Motor: Check for continuity and ensure they’re working properly.
