Hello all,
My Kenmore 66513973K012 dishwasher has failed, and I’d like to fix the issue myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this appliance, or can point me in the right direction, I’d really be thankful. When I try to start a cleaning cycle, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just shut down mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to fix it. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I experienced a similar issue with my Kenmore 66513973K012 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I found a detailed service manual online. It includes step-by-step directions, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting tips. Here’s the link, I discovered it on a blog through reddit :

Hello, help needed please I also have a Kenmore 66513973K012 dishwasher, and I got the service guide mentioned above. Could someone clarify how to test the electrical supply and what components to test initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the electrical schematics. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my dishwasher too. I checked the electrical supply, and the outlet, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the connection point. According to the schematic in the pdf, I should have some voltage there, right? How do I check the control board? Is my appliance completely faulty? The fuses seem good, I checked it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔

I think my dishwasher has an electrical issue because it isn't starting. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a current tester and some simple equipment. Can someone help me on how to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door switch could be the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated, can provide serial number if required!

Avoid rushing into replacing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the approach to diagnosing issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply let the company handle the repair. Does your appliance have issues with the display, lights, or makes sounds? Start with the fundamentals by checking the electrical connection, latch, and mainboard. It’s crucial to proceed step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the control board or pump. First, check if the appliance is getting power. It’s as easy as that. Also, check the latch and fuse. If you’re a total beginner in appliance repair, it might be safer to call a service center to prevent causing more damage, even if it costs a bit more. They can quickly diagnose the problem and find the broken part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to fix it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the appliance prior to trying to repair it).

Here’s my go-to checklist for troubleshooting a faulty dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is getting power. Test the outlet and terminal block too. Door Switch: Test for continuity. A faulty switch can stop the dishwasher from starting. Thermal Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Swap it if necessary. Control Board: Examine for visible damage or loose connections. Motor and Pump: Check for continuity and ensure they’re functioning properly. Here’s what I discovered:

Enzyme based cleaners like ACTIVE contain natural ingredients that residue inside the machine. Ours has a little lip area on the front of the shelf so if the dispenser flings the tablet out too forcefully it will sit there not in the base. To check the drain valve you need to. In fact washing machines dishwashers and tumble dryers make up 14 of a typical energy bill according to the Energy Saving Trust. I always use way less detergent than the detergent makers recommend. Long story short Gramma had a melt down when she came into the laundry area in time to see the wash machine being loaded with a load of soiled clothes. Is the longer cycle better than the shorter one. In any case the good news is most of the components of your dishwasher are fully recyclable so provided you dispose of it correctly i. This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine some models may be different but the procedure should be similar. There are a couple reasons why it is probably worth at least considering a non toxic dishwasher detergent. If the dishwasher will not turn on check the door latch. Therefore use our Rinse Aid to prevent this from happening and to protect colour fading you can use Finish Glass Protector. To use a packet tear it open and pour the contents into the detergent compartment. Years of mineral deposits had occurred and her heating element was overheating melting nearby plastic parts. If your dishwasher keeps running non stop and won t shut off it s possible that a malfunctioning drain pump is to blame. Rinse aid also keeps water from forming droplets that can dry as spots or streaks. Lord I was ashamed of what came out of mine recently and the results are now infinitely better. While they still produce some amount of noise it s far less noticeable These are great for smaller homes. Citric acid is usually found in the canning section of your grocery store. I looked at my middle finger completely limp at the top joint and I couldn t move it. If you rent a dishwasher less home and are thinking about buying a portable model you should probably check with your landlord first. It also provides CrystalDry technology although some users have reported water remaining on the top of dishes. Once your dishwasher is unclogged it s wise to take preventive steps to avoid future issues. 21 are consistent with the research of Stamminger et al. Dishes like plates should be stacked on an angle for best results and also make sure cups and bowls are facing down. Thanks for the comment hopefully you found a non toxic dishwasher detergent that works for you. With 3000 feet of piping in my basement slab open system there is a fair residual pressure to drain off but the dishwasher is on the main floor and should dissapate the residual water quickly. The citric acid from these products should remove the mineral buildup and restore the finish   There are a variety of citrus products available over the counter.
