Hello people,
My Kenmore 66515685792 dishwasher has stopped working, and I’d like to diagnose the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this unit, or can offer suggestions, I’d really be thankful. When I try to start a washing cycle, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just died mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some guidance to troubleshoot it. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not useful.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I experienced a comparable problem with my Kenmore 66515685792 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I found a comprehensive service guide online. It includes detailed directions, electrical schematics, and troubleshooting hints. Here’s the URL, I found it on a blog thanks to reddit :

Hello, assistance needed please I also have a Kenmore 66515685792 dishwasher, and I got the repair guide mentioned above. Could someone clarify how to check the power supply and what components to test initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the electrical schematics. Any suggestions would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m experiencing trouble with my appliance too. I checked the power supply, and the outlet, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the manual, I should have some voltage there, right? How do I test the mainboard? Is my appliance completely dead? The fuses seem fine, I tested it with a voltage meter. Any suggestions? 🤔

I believe my dishwasher has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very experienced with repairs, but I’m open to give it a shot. I have a current tester and some simple tools. Can anyone help me on where to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door switch could be the problem. Any advice would be appreciated, can provide serial number if required!

Avoid rushing into replacing parts right away. Depending on the problem, the approach to troubleshooting issues may differ. Sometimes, appliances are recalled for safety, and you can simply let the manufacturer handle the repair. Does your appliance have problems with the display, lights, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by checking the power supply, door switch, and control board. It’s important to proceed step by step instead of quickly replacing parts like the mainboard or pump. First, check if the appliance is powered on. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the door switch and fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in appliance repair, it might be safer to call a service center to avoid causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can easily identify the problem and identify the faulty part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to fix it yourself. (A tip: always unplug the appliance before trying to repair it).

This is my go-to checklist for diagnosing a malfunctioning dishwasher: Power Supply: Check the dishwasher is receiving power. Test the socket and terminal block too. Door Switch: Check for continuity. A faulty switch can stop the dishwasher from starting. Thermal Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Swap it if necessary. Control Board: Examine for visible damage or loose connections. Pump and Motor: Test for continuity and confirm they’re functioning properly. My new dishwasher has a separate cutlery rack which is preferable imho. My daughter s Meile is perfect for her because she uses Fiestaware plates saucers and bowls so her dishes are far more bulky than my Correlle or Crate and Barrel set. This may not seem like a big deal and I know it s mostly a mindset thing. My sense of things after reading this forum for several years is that the DW most people really like is the Miele which has the same convection dry that you re accustomed to. Read our returns and refund policy. Countertop dishwashers are great if you don t have the space to store a portable dishwasher as they sit on your countertop next to your sink. I ended up using vice grips to lessen the impact of the previous extreme bends. It is recommended to run a maintenance wash every month to remove limescale bacteria and blockages. Ask MetaFilter is a question and answer site that covers nearly any question on earth where members help each other solve problems. Visit the GE Appliance Warranty page to learn more. The water needs to be at the right temperature to dissolve and properly use the detergent so no white residue is left behind between 120 and 150 F. Still don t want to put your dishes fate in the hands of a machine even though it s good for the environment Consider this It takes water that is 140 or 145 degrees Fahrenheit 60 to 62. We usually only think of moving the basket up to fit large dinner plates on the bottom rack but you can also move it down to accommodate large wine glasses. Oh it does fine on plates and bowls but pots USUALLY need a bit of scrub after going through the dishwasher for example you can see a line where the food was. You can also go straight to our round up of the best dishwashers. The cycle is like 2 3 hours which I find a little long but maybe it saves water. So if you do like getting a bargain with those big boxes don t leave the detergent in the box with the flap open transfer it to a sealed container and keep it in a dry and cool place. We ve started using ecover tabs and find them better than or as good as the ones we used to use. For dishwashers Filling the detergent cup halfway rather than all the way is generally sufficient. Try different settings based on your needs and see if another cycle works better for you. This can happen when too many devices are connected to a single circuit or when multiple power hungry appliances are in use. The drainage pump can malfunction due to various reasons including broken glass and foreign objects slipping into the pump or leftover food and grease preventing the water from being drained. My whirlpool dishwasher has started behaving very oddly. Please fill in the information below. Properly Arrange Dishes Load dishes with the soiled side facing the spray arms. The very first sign of trouble could be related to a water supply hose issue where you are dealing with a water hose kink. You may need to call a professional to take care of the problem. Thankfully there are ways to troubleshoot the problem.
