Hello all,
My Kenmore 66515979991 dishwasher has ceased functioning, and I’d like to diagnose the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this appliance, or can offer suggestions, I’d really thank you. When I try to start a wash, nothing happens: no lights, no sounds, no water flow. It just died mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some advice to repair it. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have experienced a similar problem with my Kenmore 66515979991 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a detailed service manual online. It features detailed directions, electrical schematics, and troubleshooting tips. Here’s the URL, I found it on a blog thanks to reddit :

Hello, help required please I also have a Kenmore 66515979991 dishwasher, and I downloaded the repair guide shared above. Could someone clarify how to check the power supply and what parts to test first? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the electrical diagrams. Any advice would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I checked the power supply, and the outlet, evrything is working, but there’s no power at the connection point. According to the wiring diagram in the book, I expect to have 120V there, right? How do I check the mainboard? Is my appliance completely faulty? The fuse seem fine, I tested it with a voltage meter. Any suggestions? 🤔

I think my appliance has an electrical issue because it isn't starting. I’m not very skilled with fixing things, but I’m open to give it a try. I have a current tester and some simple equipment. Can anyone guide me on how to start? I’ve heard the control board, motor, or door mechanism could be the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide model number if required!

Avoid jumping into replacing parts right away. Depending on the problem, the method to diagnosing issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply let the manufacturer handle everything. Does your dishwasher have issues with the screen, indicators, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by checking the power supply, door switch, and mainboard. It’s important to move step by step instead of hastily swapping parts like the mainboard or pump. First, verify if the dishwasher is getting power. It’s as easy as that. Also, inspect the latch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a service center to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a bit more. They can easily diagnose the issue and find the broken part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to fix it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the dishwasher prior to working on it).

I believe I damaged my appliance heating element while trying to replace the water valve. Now it doesn’t warm up at all while running. Is it possible I caused more damage? Something’s not working properly. I grabbed the Kenmore 66515979991 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me determine what went wrong. Hoping for the best...

Here’s my go-to checklist for troubleshooting a faulty dishwasher: Power Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Test the outlet and terminal block as well. Latch: Test for continuity. A broken switch can prevent the dishwasher from working. Fuse: Inspect if it’s blown. Swap it if necessary. Mainboard: Inspect for visible damage or loose connections. Motor and Motor: Test for continuity and ensure they’re working properly.
