Hi guys,
My Kenmore 66577983K703 dishwasher has stopped working, and I’d like to fix the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can provide some advice, I’d really value it. When I try to start a cleaning cycle, nothing happens: no lights or sounds, and no water flows. It just stopped mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to troubleshoot it. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful.
Thanks in advance for your support!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have experienced a similar problem with my Kenmore 66577983K703 dishwasher a few months ago, and I discovered a detailed service guide on the internet. It features step-by-step directions, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting hints. Here’s the URL, I found it on a blog on a subreddit :

Hi, help required please I also have a Kenmore 66577983K703 dishwasher, and I got the service guide shared above. Could anyone clarify how to test the electrical supply and what parts to inspect initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring schematics. Any advice would be appreciated!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hello, I’m experiencing trouble with my dishwasher too. I checked the electrical supply, and the socket, evrything is working, but there’s no voltage at the connection point. According to the wiring diagram in the book, I expect to have 120V there, right? How do I test the control board? Is my appliance completely faulty? The fuses seem fine, I checked it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔

I think my dishwasher has an electrical issue because it won’t start at all. I’m not very tech savvy with repairs, but I’m open to give it a shot. I have a multimeter and some basic equipment. Can someone help me on where to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door mechanism could be the issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated, can provide model number if required!

Avoid jumping into changing parts right away. Depending on the problem, the approach to diagnosing issues may vary. Sometimes, appliances are recalled for safety, and you can simply let the company handle everything. Does your appliance have issues with the screen, indicators, or makes sounds? Start with the fundamentals by inspecting the power supply, door switch, and mainboard. It’s important to move step by step instead of quickly swapping parts like the control board or motor. First, check if the dishwasher is getting power. It’s as simple as that. Also, check the door switch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a service center to avoid causing more damage, even if it costs a little extra. They can easily identify the issue and find the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you decide to fix it yourself. (A tip: always disconnect the appliance before trying to repair it).

I believe I damaged my dishwasher heating element while trying to replace the water valve. Now it won’t warm up at all while operating. Is it likely I caused more issues? Something’s not right. I grabbed the Kenmore 66577983K703 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me determine what went wrong. Hoping for the best...

Here’s my preferred checklist for troubleshooting a faulty dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is receiving power. Test the outlet and connection point as well. Door Switch: Test for continuity. A faulty switch can prevent the dishwasher from starting. Fuse: Inspect if it’s blown. Swap it if necessary. Control Board: Inspect for visible damage or loose connections. Pump and Pump: Test for proper operation and ensure they’re working properly.
