Hi people,
My Kitchenaid 5KEK1722EOB0 dishwasher has stopped working, and I’d like to troubleshoot the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this machine, or can offer suggestions, I’d really be thankful. When I try to start a cleaning cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no water flow, and no sounds. It just quit mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to repair it. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful.
Thanks in advance for your support!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I experienced a similar issue with my Kitchenaid 5KEK1722EOB0 dishwasher a few months ago, and I found a detailed service guide online. It includes step-by-step instructions, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting hints. Here’s the link, I found it on a blog thanks to reddit :

Hello, help needed please I too have a Kitchenaid 5KEK1722EOB0 dishwasher, and I got the service manual shared above. Could someone clarify how to check the power supply and what parts to test initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the wiring diagrams. Any advice would be appreciated!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I inspected the electrical supply, and the socket, evrything is working, but there’s no voltage at the connection point. According to the wiring diagram in the pdf, I should have 120V there, right? How do I test the control board? Is my appliance completely non-functional? The fuse seem good, I tested it with a voltage meter. Any suggestions? 🤔

I believe my appliance has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m open to give it a shot. I have a current tester and some basic tools. Can someone guide me on how to start? I’ve heard the control board, motor, or door mechanism could be the issue. Any advice would be helpful, can provide serial number if required!

Avoid jumping into replacing parts right away. Depending on the issue, the approach to diagnosing issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply let the manufacturer handle everything. Does your appliance have issues with the screen, lights, or makes sounds? Start with the fundamentals by inspecting the power supply, door switch, and mainboard. It’s crucial to move step by step instead of quickly swapping parts like the mainboard or motor. First, verify if the dishwasher is powered on. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the door switch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a repair shop to avoid causing more damage, even if it costs a bit more. They can easily identify the issue and identify the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the appliance prior to working on it).

I believe I damaged my dishwasher thermal resistance while trying to swap the water inlet valve. Now it doesn’t heat at all while running. Is it likely I caused more issues? Something’s not right. I downloaded the Kitchenaid 5KEK1722EOB0 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me figure out what went wrong. Fingers crossed...

This is my preferred checklist for troubleshooting a malfunctioning dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is getting power. Test the socket and terminal block as well. Latch: Check for continuity. A faulty switch can stop the dishwasher from starting. Fuse: Inspect if it’s blown. Replace it if needed. Control Board: Examine for visible damage or disconnected connections. Pump and Motor: Test for proper operation and ensure they’re working properly.
