Hello friends,
My Kitchenaid 5KFC3511WOB0 dishwasher has quit working, and I’d like to troubleshoot the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this machine, or can provide some advice, I’d really be grateful. When I try to start a cleaning cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no water flow, and no sounds. It just failed mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some support to resolve the issue. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful.
Thanks in advance for your support!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I had a similar issue with my Kitchenaid 5KFC3511WOB0 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a comprehensive service manual online. It features detailed instructions, wiring schematics, and troubleshooting hints. Here’s the URL, I discovered it on a blog on a subreddit :

Hi, help needed please I too have a Kitchenaid 5KFC3511WOB0 dishwasher, and I downloaded the repair guide shared above. Could someone clarify how to test the power supply and what parts to inspect first? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the electrical schematics. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I checked the power supply, and the socket, evrything is working, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the wiring diagram in the pdf, I expect to have some voltage there, right? How do I check the control board? Is my appliance completely non-functional? The fuse seem fine, I checked it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔

I believe my appliance has an electrical problem because it isn't starting. I’m not very skilled with fixing things, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I have a multimeter and some simple tools. Can someone guide me on where to begin? I’ve heard the control board, pump, or door switch could be the problem. Any advice would be appreciated, can provide model number if required!

Avoid jumping into replacing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the method to diagnosing issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply let the manufacturer handle the repair. Does your appliance have issues with the screen, lights, or makes noises? Start with the fundamentals by checking the electrical connection, latch, and mainboard. It’s crucial to proceed step by step instead of quickly replacing parts like the control board or motor. First, verify if the appliance is getting power. It’s as simple as that. Also, check the door switch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a service center to prevent causing more damage, even if it costs a bit more. They can easily identify the problem and find the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you decide to fix it yourself. (A piece of advice: always unplug the appliance prior to working on it).

I believe I damaged my appliance thermal resistance while trying to swap the water inlet valve. Now it doesn’t warm up at all while running. Is it possible I caused more issues? Something’s not working properly. I grabbed the Kitchenaid 5KFC3511WOB0 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me figure out what went wrong. Hoping for the best...

Here’s my preferred checklist for troubleshooting a malfunctioning dishwasher: Power Supply: Verify the dishwasher is getting power. Test the outlet and terminal block as well. Latch: Test for continuity. A faulty switch can prevent the dishwasher from starting. Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Swap it if needed. Mainboard: Inspect for obvious damage or disconnected connections. Motor and Pump: Check for proper operation and ensure they’re functioning properly.
