Hi friends,
My Kitchenaid 5KFC3516ACU0 dishwasher has broken down, and I’d like to diagnose the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this appliance, or can provide some advice, I’d really be thankful. When I try to start a washing cycle, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just failed mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to troubleshoot it. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I experienced a comparable problem with my Kitchenaid 5KFC3516ACU0 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a detailed service guide on the internet. It features step-by-step directions, wiring schematics, and troubleshooting hints. Here’s the URL, I discovered it on a blog thanks to a subreddit :

Hi, assistance required please I also have a Kitchenaid 5KFC3516ACU0 dishwasher, and I got the service guide shared above. Could anyone clarify how to check the electrical supply and what components to inspect initially? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the electrical diagrams. Any advice would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hello, I’m experiencing trouble with my appliance too. I checked the electrical supply, and the socket, evrything is working, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the schematic in the pdf, I should have some voltage there, correct? How do I check the mainboard? Is my appliance completely faulty? The fuses seem good, I checked it with a voltage meter. Any ideas? 🤔

I think my appliance has an electrical issue because it isn't starting. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m open to give it a shot. I have a current tester and some simple tools. Can anyone guide me on where to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door mechanism could be the issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated, can provide serial number if needed!

Avoid rushing into replacing parts right away. Depending on the issue, the method to troubleshooting issues may vary. Sometimes, appliances are recalled for safety, and you can simply let the manufacturer handle everything. Does your dishwasher have problems with the screen, indicators, or makes sounds? Start with the fundamentals by inspecting the electrical connection, door switch, and control board. It’s crucial to proceed step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the control board or motor. First, check if the dishwasher is getting power. It’s as easy as that. Also, inspect the door switch and fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be better to call a repair shop to avoid causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can easily diagnose the issue and find the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you decide to fix it yourself. (A tip: always disconnect the dishwasher before working on it).

Here’s my preferred checklist for troubleshooting a faulty dishwasher: Power Supply: Verify the dishwasher is receiving power. Test the outlet and terminal block too. Latch: Test for continuity. A broken wire can stop the dishwasher from working. Fuse: Check if it’s damaged. Replace it if needed. Control Board: Inspect for obvious damage or loose connections. Motor and Motor: Check for continuity and ensure they’re functioning properly.
