Hello friends, My Kitchenaid 5KHM5110BPH0 dishwasher has ceased functioning, and I’d like to fix the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this appliance, or can help me out, I’d really value it. When I try to start a washing cycle, nothing happens: no lights or sounds, and no water flows. It just shut down mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some advice to troubleshoot it. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful. Thanks in advance for your help!
Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum!
I have had a similar issue with my Kitchenaid 5KHM5110BPH0 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I found a comprehensive service manual on the internet. It includes detailed directions, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic hints. Here’s the link, I discovered it on a blog on reddit :
Hello, help required please I too have a Kitchenaid 5KHM5110BPH0 dishwasher, and I got the service manual shared above. Could someone clarify how to check the electrical supply and what parts to inspect initially? I’m a bit confused by the electrical schematics. Any advice would be great!
Start by checking the basics:
1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model).
2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter.
3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.
Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I inspected the electrical supply, and the outlet, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the wiring diagram in the guide, I expect to have some voltage there, correct? How do I test the mainboard? Is my appliance totally faulty? The fuse seem fine, I tested it with a voltage meter. Any ideas? 🤔
I believe my dishwasher has an electrical problem because it won’t start at all. I’m not very tech savvy with fixing things, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a current tester and some simple equipment. Can someone help me on how to start? I’ve heard the control board, motor, or door switch could be the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide serial number if needed!
Don't jump into replacing parts immediately. Depending on the problem, the approach to troubleshooting issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled for safety, and you can simply allow the company handle the repair.
Does your dishwasher have problems with the display, indicators, or makes noises? Start with the basics by checking the power supply, latch, and control board.
It’s crucial to move step by step instead of quickly replacing parts like the mainboard or pump. First, check if the appliance is getting power. It’s as easy as that. Also, check the latch and fuse.
If you’re a complete beginner in appliance repair, it might be safer to call a service center to prevent causing more damage, even if it costs a bit more. They can easily identify the issue and find the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you want to fix it yourself. (A piece of advice: always unplug the appliance prior to working on it).
I think I damaged my dishwasher thermal resistance while trying to swap the water valve. Now it won’t warm up at all while operating. Is it possible I caused more damage? Something’s not right.
I downloaded the Kitchenaid 5KHM5110BPH0 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll assist me figure out what went wrong. Hoping for the best...
This is my preferred checklist for diagnosing a malfunctioning dishwasher:
Electrical Supply: Check the dishwasher is receiving power. Test the outlet and terminal block as well.
Door Switch: Check for continuity. A faulty switch can prevent the dishwasher from working.
Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Replace it if necessary.
Mainboard: Inspect for obvious damage or loose connections.
Motor and Pump: Check for proper operation and ensure they’re functioning properly.
