Hi friends,
My Kitchenaid 5KSM175PSSMY4 dishwasher has failed, and I’d like to troubleshoot the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this unit, or can help me out, I’d really be thankful. When I try to start a cleaning cycle, nothing happens: no lights or sounds, and no water flows. It just quit mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some support to repair it. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not useful.
Thanks in advance for your support!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have experienced a comparable problem with my Kitchenaid 5KSM175PSSMY4 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I found a detailed service manual online. It features detailed directions, electrical schematics, and troubleshooting tips. Here’s the URL, I found it on a blog on reddit :

Hello, assistance needed please I also have a Kitchenaid 5KSM175PSSMY4 dishwasher, and I downloaded the service guide mentioned above. Could anyone explain how to test the electrical supply and what parts to inspect first? I’m a bit confused by the wiring schematics. Any advice would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I checked the power supply, and the socket, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the wiring diagram in the guide, I should have some voltage there, correct? How do I check the control board? Is my dishwasher totally non-functional? The fuses seem fine, I tested it with a multimeter. Any suggestions? 🤔

I think my dishwasher has an electrical problem because it won’t start at all. I’m not very tech savvy with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a current tester and some simple equipment. Can someone help me on where to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door mechanism could be the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated, can provide serial number if required!

Avoid jumping into changing parts immediately. Depending on the issue, the method to diagnosing issues may vary. Sometimes, devices are recalled, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle everything. Does your dishwasher have issues with the screen, indicators, or makes noises? Start with the basics by checking the electrical connection, door switch, and control board. It’s important to move step by step instead of hastily swapping parts like the mainboard or pump. First, check if the dishwasher is powered on. It’s as simple as that. Also, check the door switch and thermal fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a repair shop to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly diagnose the issue and identify the broken part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to fix it yourself. (A tip: always disconnect the appliance before working on it).

Here’s my preferred checklist for troubleshooting a faulty dishwasher: Power Supply: Check the dishwasher is receiving power. Check the socket and connection point as well. Door Switch: Check for continuity. A broken switch can prevent the dishwasher from starting. Fuse: Check if it’s blown. Swap it if needed. Mainboard: Inspect for obvious damage or loose connections. Motor and Motor: Test for proper operation and ensure they’re working properly. For more comprehensive instructions, check out this link. : https://www.fiyo.co.uk/dishwasher/wheel
