Hi folks,
My Kitchenaid 9KFC3516IC0 dishwasher has quit working, and I’d like to fix the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this machine, or can provide some advice, I’d really value it. When I try to start a cycle, nothing happens: no lights, sounds, or water flow. It just died mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some support to resolve the issue. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have had a similar problem with my Kitchenaid 9KFC3516IC0 dishwasher a few months ago, and I found a detailed service guide online. It includes step-by-step instructions, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the URL, I discovered it on a blog on reddit :

Hello, help required please I also have a Kitchenaid 9KFC3516IC0 dishwasher, and I got the repair guide shared above. Could anyone clarify how to test the power supply and what components to inspect initially? I’m a bit confused by the electrical diagrams. Any advice would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I checked the power supply, and the socket, evrything is fine, but there’s no voltage at the connection point. According to the schematic in the guide, I should have 120V there, right? How do I test the control board? Is my appliance totally dead? The fuse seem good, I tested it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔

I believe my appliance has an electrical issue because it isn't starting. I’m not very skilled with fixing things, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I have a current tester and some basic equipment. Can anyone guide me on how to start? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door mechanism could be the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated, can provide model number if required!

Don’t Rush into replacing parts right away. Depending on the issue, the approach to troubleshooting malfunctions may vary. Sometimes, appliances are recalled, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle the repair. Does your dishwasher have issues with the screen, lights, or makes sounds? Start with the fundamentals by checking the power supply, latch, and control board. It’s crucial to move step by step instead of hastily replacing parts like the control board or pump. First, check if the dishwasher is getting power. It’s as easy as that. Also, check the latch and fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in appliance repair, it might be safer to call a service center to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can easily identify the problem and identify the faulty part. Then, it’s up to you whether you want to replace it yourself. (A tip: always unplug the appliance before trying to repair it).

I believe I damaged my dishwasher heating element while trying to swap the water inlet valve. Now it won’t warm up at all while operating. Is it possible I caused more damage? Something’s not right. I downloaded the Kitchenaid 9KFC3516IC0 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me figure out what went wrong. Fingers crossed...

Here’s my go-to checklist for troubleshooting a malfunctioning dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Check the dishwasher is receiving power. Check the socket and connection point too. Door Switch: Test for continuity. A faulty wire can stop the dishwasher from working. Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Swap it if necessary. Mainboard: Inspect for visible damage or loose connections. Motor and Motor: Check for continuity and confirm they’re working properly. Here’s what I found:

They can also be a little restrictive in terms of the contents they can accommodate so where possible we would suggest opting for a slimline instead. Let this abrasive combination sit for several hours before flushing with hot water. Only downside being that little light to say you have no salt in the dishwasher never goes out. Have you gone to put your dirty dishes in your dishwasher only to realise that it s making a great deal of noise when you then switch it on. I follow the normal steps online disconnect power for 15 minutes to reset optionally clean off water sensor leads and it might work a few more times and then the errors occur again. We pathetic occasionally Intel find reminants of tablets after completion Lockheed Martin of the cycle pathetic turned us off Harley Davidson using them. This build up can lead to poor cleaning performance but it doesn t mean your dishwasher is beyond saving. I have seen all of these problems numerous times on units I ve worked on. And I don t think it s 400 nicer. Please leave this field empty. If your drain was clogged you ve been trying to clear the clog you ve likely been pushing dirty sink water thats not going down the pipes back into the dishwasher. It s not replacing rinse aid because chemically it does something completely different. Leak detection systems meticulously monitor the flow of water as it passes through the pipes and shut off water flow when a leak is noticed. The drain or water lines are leaking. However when your dishwasher is producing clicking sounds or is too loud it s highly recommended to check. I clean our dishwasher once a month. We have the same or similar D W and I installed it myself. My Bosch dishwasher takes a long time but it s very quiet and we mostly run it on delay at night. Before you buy a home warranty plan research to make sure the plan is right for your needs. This requires at least a monthly clean or more often depending on your usage to prevent build up of left over food bad odours and a reduction of water flow. To save energy turn off the Heated Dry option. When in doubt avoid washing these items in the dishwasher. Avoid spilling dishwasher salt inside the appliance. Also more commonly found in modern dishwashers a heated rinse setting increases the water temperature towards the end of the cycle. Loading up your dishwasher efficiently is one of the most important things you can do. A blocked filter is the most common reason for a dishwasher not draining. That doesn t mean I couldn t get service it does mean I couldn t get service promptly.
