Hi guys,
My Kitchenaid KDPM804KPS1 dishwasher has failed, and I’d like to fix the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this machine, or can guide me, I’d really be thankful. When I try to start a wash, nothing happens: no lights or sounds, and no water flows. It just quit mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some help to fix it. Please don't share the owner's manual, I already have it and it’s not useful.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have experienced a comparable issue with my Kitchenaid KDPM804KPS1 dishwasher a few months ago, and I found a comprehensive service manual on the internet. It features detailed instructions, electrical diagrams, and diagnostic tips. Here’s the link, I discovered it on a blog on reddit :

Hi, help required please I also have a Kitchenaid KDPM804KPS1 dishwasher, and I downloaded the service manual shared above. Could someone clarify how to test the electrical supply and what parts to test initially? I’m a bit confused by the electrical schematics. Any advice would be appreciated!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hello, I’m having trouble with my dishwasher too. I inspected the power supply, and the outlet, evrything is working, but there’s no voltage at the terminal block. According to the wiring diagram in the guide, I expect to have some voltage there, correct? How do I check the mainboard? Is my appliance totally non-functional? The fuse seem good, I tested it with a multimeter. Any suggestions? 🤔

I believe my dishwasher has an electrical issue because it isn't starting. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m open to give it a try. I have a current tester and some basic tools. Can someone help me on how to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, motor, or door mechanism could be the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide serial number if required!

Avoid rushing into changing parts right away. Depending on the issue, the method to diagnosing malfunctions may differ. Sometimes, appliances are recalled, and you can simply let the manufacturer handle the repair. Does your dishwasher have issues with the screen, lights, or makes noises? Start with the basics by checking the power supply, door switch, and control board. It’s important to proceed step by step instead of hastily swapping parts like the mainboard or motor. First, check if the dishwasher is powered on. It’s as simple as that. Also, inspect the door switch and fuse. If you’re a total beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be better to call a repair shop to avoid causing more issues, even if it costs a bit more. They can quickly identify the issue and find the broken part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always unplug the dishwasher before trying to repair it).

I think I damaged my dishwasher thermal resistance while trying to swap the water inlet valve. Now it doesn’t heat at all while operating. Is it likely I caused more issues? Something’s not working properly. I downloaded the Kitchenaid KDPM804KPS1 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me figure out what went wrong. Fingers crossed...

Here’s my checklist for troubleshooting a malfunctioning dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Verify the dishwasher is getting power. Check the outlet and connection point as well. Latch: Check for continuity. A faulty wire can prevent the dishwasher from starting. Fuse: Check if it’s damaged. Replace it if necessary. Mainboard: Examine for obvious damage or disconnected connections. Pump and Motor: Test for continuity and confirm they’re working properly.
