Hello my good fellows,
My Whirlpool DU940QWDB6 dishwasher has broken down, and I’d like to address the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can guide me, I’d really thank you. When I try to start a washing cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no water flow, and no sounds. It just stopped mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some guidance to fix it. Please don't share the user manual, I already have it and it’s not informative.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have had a comparable problem with my Whirlpool DU940QWDB6 dishwasher a few weeks ago, and I discovered a comprehensive service guide online. It features detailed directions, electrical schematics, and troubleshooting hints. Here’s the link, I found it on a blog thanks to a subreddit :

Hi, assistance required please I also have a Whirlpool DU940QWDB6 dishwasher, and I downloaded the service guide shared above. Could someone explain how to check the power supply and what parts to test first? I’m a bit confused by the wiring schematics. Any advice would be appreciated!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m experiencing trouble with my dishwasher too. I inspected the electrical supply, and the socket, evrything is working, but there’s no power at the connection point. According to the wiring diagram in the pdf, I expect to have 120V there, correct? How do I test the mainboard? Is my dishwasher totally faulty? The fuses seem good, I checked it with a voltage meter. Any ideas? 🤔

I think my appliance has an electrical problem because it won’t start at all. I’m not very tech savvy with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a try. I have a current tester and some simple equipment. Can anyone help me on how to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door switch could be the problem. Any advice would be helpful, can provide model number if required!

Don't jump into replacing parts right away. Depending on the issue, the approach to troubleshooting issues may differ. Sometimes, devices are recalled for safety, and you can simply allow the manufacturer handle the repair. Does your dishwasher have issues with the display, indicators, or makes sounds? Start with the basics by checking the electrical connection, latch, and mainboard. It’s important to move step by step instead of quickly swapping parts like the mainboard or motor. First, check if the dishwasher is getting power. It’s as simple as that. Also, check the door switch and fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be better to call a service center to prevent causing more issues, even if it costs a little extra. They can quickly identify the issue and find the broken part. Then, it’s up to you whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A piece of advice: always disconnect the dishwasher before working on it).

I think I damaged my dishwasher heating element while trying to replace the water inlet valve. Now it doesn’t warm up at all while operating. Is it possible I caused more issues? Something’s not right. I grabbed the Whirlpool DU940QWDB6 maintenance guide guide hopefully it’ll help me determine what went wrong. Hoping for the best...

This is my checklist for diagnosing a faulty dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Test the outlet and terminal block as well. Latch: Test for continuity. A faulty wire can stop the dishwasher from starting. Thermal Fuse: Check if it’s damaged. Replace it if needed. Mainboard: Inspect for obvious damage or disconnected connections. Pump and Pump: Check for proper operation and confirm they’re working properly. For more comprehensive instructions, refer to this URL. : https://www.espares.co.uk/browse/at1083ma143/dishwashers/aeg
