Hello everyone,
My Whirlpool DU9700XY1 dishwasher has stopped working, and I’d like to diagnose the problem myself, so if anyone has a a repair guide or service manual for this model, or can help me out, I’d really thank you. When I try to start a cleaning cycle, nothing happens: no lights, no sounds, no water flow. It just quit mid-cycle yesterday. I’m looking for some advice to repair it. Please don't share the operating manual, I already have it and it’s not helpful.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Welcome to the Dishwasher Repair Forum! I have experienced a similar issue with my Whirlpool DU9700XY1 dishwasher a few months ago, and I discovered a comprehensive service manual online. It includes detailed instructions, electrical schematics, and troubleshooting hints. Here’s the URL, I discovered it on a blog thanks to a subreddit :

Hi, help required please I too have a Whirlpool DU9700XY1 dishwasher, and I downloaded the repair guide mentioned above. Could someone clarify how to check the electrical supply and what components to inspect initially? I’m a bit confused by the wiring diagrams. Any suggestions would be great!

Start by checking the basics: 1. Power Supply: Use a multimeter to test the outlet and the terminal block where the power cord connects to the dishwasher. You should see around 120V (or 240V, depending on your model). 2. Door Switch: This is a common failure point. If the door isn’t fully closed or the switch is faulty, the dishwasher won’t start. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. 3. Thermal Fuse: If the dishwasher overheated, the thermal fuse might be blown. Check it for continuity as well.

Hi, I’m having trouble with my appliance too. I inspected the power supply, and the socket, evrything is working, but there’s no voltage at the connection point. According to the schematic in the book, I expect to have some voltage there, correct? How do I check the mainboard? Is my dishwasher completely dead? The fuse seem fine, I checked it with a multimeter. Any ideas? 🤔

I believe my appliance has an electrical problem because it won’t start at all. I’m not very skilled with repairs, but I’m willing to give it a shot. I have a multimeter and some basic tools. Can someone help me on how to begin? I’ve heard the mainboard, pump, or door mechanism could be the issue. Any suggestions would be helpful, can provide serial number if required!

Don't jump into changing parts immediately. Depending on the issue, the method to troubleshooting issues may differ. Sometimes, devices are recalled for safety, and you can simply let the company handle the repair. Does your appliance have problems with the display, lights, or makes noises? Start with the basics by checking the power supply, latch, and mainboard. It’s crucial to move step by step instead of quickly replacing parts like the control board or pump. First, verify if the appliance is getting power. It’s as simple as that. Also, check the latch and thermal fuse. If you’re a complete beginner in dishwasher repair, it might be safer to call a service center to avoid causing more damage, even if it costs a bit more. They can easily identify the problem and identify the faulty part. Then, it’s your choice whether you decide to replace it yourself. (A tip: always disconnect the appliance before working on it).

Here’s my checklist for diagnosing a faulty dishwasher: Electrical Supply: Check the dishwasher is getting power. Test the socket and terminal block as well. Door Switch: Check for continuity. A faulty wire can stop the dishwasher from working. Fuse: Inspect if it’s damaged. Swap it if needed. Control Board: Examine for obvious damage or loose connections. Pump and Motor: Check for continuity and confirm they’re functioning properly. Here’s what I discovered:

We also took a baking tray too I know it sounds crazy but if I am lowering the top rack down to accommodate the tray at the top then I need to see how it impacts the bottom rack. This means that the source of your problem can be located in the pipes leading to and from this dishwasher. Cost Savings This minimalist approach incurs no additional cost for dishwasher detergents contributing to potential cost savings over time.
